Just go and OS Dorofyev for 5 x $9.55 for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We get the pure sniper we've been looking for and get to hurt Vegas in the process which is a nice bonus. Doesn't leave a ton of room to do anything but bring the rest of the gang back and sign a backup G but if all 3 phases can play well at the same time that would be a real dangerous team on paper.

I think they're going to stay the course largely because of the Tkachuk situation. They've got that bomb ticking away in the background, and I'd guess that - if pressed - they probably aren't confident that they'll retain him beyond next summer.

So running it back is the safe play, and if there's one thing we can say about Staios' GMing style is that he's conservative.

There was certainly no urgency last summer to build on this group's first playoff appearance.

We have chips. Last summer Zegras went for a a deal centered around poehling

I wanted us to see if we could get Michael McCarron. He just signed a 6 year deal at 3.3M. He’s a 31 year old career 4th line energy player. That’s a lot of term and money for a player like him.

Much like Jeannot last year getting 3.4M for 5 years.

The market is changing. Teams want these guys and there aren’t that many of them still around.

I see that and I tell myself what a deal we got with Amadio who’s a much better player.

We’ll have to go value shopping out there in free agency. Nick Cousins could probably get a nice contract if he decided to test free agency.

Staios did make some pretty big changes last deadline acquiring Cozens and Zetterlund and then acquiring Spence in the summer. Looking at the big picture it’s still fairly big moves that were made to try and improve the team. He may be conservative in his overall demeanor and some of his decision making but I also see a GM who’s not shy to make a move when he thinks there’s a possibility to improve.

For last summer I think part of it is that we’re not big players in the free agent market and we didn’t have a ton of money to spend looking at what guys were getting paid. We have a bit more flexibility this year. We also didn’t have our 1st rounder so I’m sure that slowed things down too.

For the trade market we just didin’t have a lot to move and the trade market was, for the most part, a sellers market.

I think it will ultimately depend on what’s available but I think Staios will make some moves over the summer.

Running it back for the 4th year straight should be a fireable offense at this point. Staying the course is asinine and incredibly frustrating for both the players, especially Stutzle and Brady I'd imagine, and the fans.

He better be more aggressive and wake the f*** up from his never ending slumber and try to acquire a difference maker up front.
