Wasn't there whispers of Poehling having some kind of chronic injury issue too? Maybe I'm misremembering, but I imagine that probably played a role in the guy not coming back.

I don't think there will be any more retention then 2.0 on, Karlsson. Total. That gets him down to 9.5. The costs to get someone to eat more than that a a 4 year term would be too costly.

I’m not one for negativity. Just seeing us finally have a large chunk of cap space on July 1 for the first time in forever, and guys like Duchene, ROR, Brown, etc. getting snapped up on extremely fair contracts while we do NOTHING and our third line is non-existent is extremely frustrating.

I’ve been told every deadline and off season to be patient while Hextall and JR ran the team into the ground.

For all the people that felt we should've shipped out our 1st + prospects for a difference maker, does Karlsson not fit that bill?
Way I see it is Karlsson would likely get like 15-20 points more than Petry, but give up all that surplus and more defensively.
He also wouldn't really move the needle on the PP, based on his history there.

It all depends on if Granlund gets off-loaded in the process and how much San Jose would retain.
