So i don’t care for eller, but he still had 10 goals and 20+ points last year. Are we not expecting him to be able to get around that number? He’s averaged in the teen in goals and 30’s in points for most of his career.
So did Nieto and he got 900k.

The top 6 should be good. The bottom 6 is atrocious. We are definitely ranked int he bottom 3rd in the league for our defense and goaltending.

I honestly don’t think any of the deals are individually bad per se. But I don’t get why we want to build the roster this way with all of these players.

Maybe I’ll be wrong but it doesn’t look like a roster that can play the style we profess we want to play, nor does it compliment the styles we can play.

I think this is akin to the blake comeau/steve downie year. Where they are juts filling spots with competent depth players and see where it goes.

I think the biggest issue they see is that the PK and defensive performance of the bottom six was ****. Smith/Acciari/Nieto/Eller/Graves are all good PKers. A benefit to this is Rust may not have to PK now, which will be good for his production.

Dubas first UFA was interesting. I did come away a bit disappointed with some of the moves but maybe my expectations were too high.

I think it's clear he involves his coaches in his decisions a lot. That can be good and bad. Good because it will bring in players that the coaches have use for unlike the last regime's Granlund addition. Including the coaches so much can also be bad since coaches have their guys and those biases can lead to bad signings. I think that's how the Jarry signing happened. A lot of coaches probably went to bat for him. Same thing with Eller. I think Reirden probably went to bat for him. The problem is Eller isn't what he was when Reirden had him in Washington. I would have been fine with signing Jarry as a fallback if all the other options were signed and the trade market asking prices were absurdly high but I don't get giving him that much term.

I liked the Graves signing. You let an aging top 4 D go in Dumoulin and replace him with a younger guy that can play that role. I would've liked to have seen more of those kinds of moves to get younger but it's hard to get younger in ufa.

In totality I think the team is better but other teams also get better so it's hard to say where they stand at the moment. Hopefully there's more moves to come. I think they need an addition that moves the needle a bit more.

The bottom six in regards to the offense they could generate is fair at best. We needed to take pressure off our top six and I don't believe we came close to doing so. Very underwhelming.

This literally looks like a team Sullivan and Reirdon hand picked. Low skill and system guys who have mediocre talent.
That’s exactly what happened…I’m still angry this am and upset we didn’t fire this awful coach already…his system doesn’t work with old guys, they’re spent by February…and yet here we are lol

Seems to me like the team got more defensively responsible yesterday. Considering all the blown leads last year, I consider that a win
That's fine if there's a bit of offensive acumen to go along with it. We desperately needed to get more contributions from lines three and four. If we're better in that regard we are only marginally so.

I rarely disagree with you but our system made us the worst finishing team, even if our bottom 6 sucked. No attacking players in bad spots, no rushes, no forcing broken plays, too much hoping for breakdowns.
Agree with this, but I’ll also say that Sullivan’s system can work, just not with all the old guys we have…we still need another superstar player if we’re going to play it…I’d like to fire his ass out the door

Granlund as it stands now is our most elite offensive option in the bottom six. On a deep team He should be third or 4th on that list.

Acciari, Nieto, Eller, Granlund, Carter, DOC and Nylander feels like a real wet-spaghetti-at-a-wall kind of bottom six. I'm struggling to find much of an overall feel or identity there. Hey maybe it works IDK. It probably fits Sullivan's system much more so if you're a big Mayor of The Winter Classic fan you should be pleased.

Still have 2 months until the season starts. I think acciari and nieto are going to be awesome in the bottom 6. Also like graves a lot. We’ll see what happens.

Saw this on another site…I didn’t watch…

“I happened to watch the Steve Dangle podcast last night on you tube. But he really lambasted KD for the Graves and Jarry signings. Graves too much term and possibly money. In fact during the podcast he supposedly got a text from an anonymous NHL executive that stated KD made a big mistake with this signing. The general thought was, what was KD thinking. With Jarry too much term and just not a good signing with his history.”
