Now get Michael Ryder out of retirement and, assuming we keep our 2nd round pick next year, we will have a great package to trade for Patrick Kane at the deadline.
We've already got Ryder (Korczak)

I still remember the first day of free agency 2008 when we signed Patrick Rissmiller to a 3/3 contract and people here were optimistic.

He only played 2 games for us, but it felt like 100.

I no longer get excited for free agency. I sit alone, and panic.

That was a weird offseason.

not sure if you're serious. Am I wrong but if we sign trocheck lets say for 5.75 and Kakko for 2.5 and Halak for 1.5 don't we have like a million dollars left under the cap?
Miller with retention will be 2.625M. Probably gonna trade someone making around 2M for him. They can fit him in.

Apparently Marek says the Rangers are still in on Miller even if they sign Trocheck. Would need VAN to retain and it would be a straight rental but it would be a really formidable forward group to go for it this year.

I very much will believe it when I see it
It makes sense to do. Take your shot. If it fails sell of the older core and retool. Agree with Drury if true

Ok. now lets discuss realistic assets going back and it's not gonna be nils and a second. I don't wanna trade our 23 first. so Kakko and a 2nd?

"Can we get Marian Hossa?"

The Rangers: "We got Marian Hossa at home!"

Trochek isn’t the sexy name but he’s probably the most prudent fit. He’ll fill the role well enough, is a big improvement on faceoffs, plays with intensity and will be the most affordable. I like it.

I think it's difficult to compare Devils to Avs. It's a fair point to raise that Avs showed how helpful speed and finesse can be but without isolating for solely those traits, imo it's very challenging to draw a conclusion that a team can get away with most of their identity coming from that.

Devils have speedy skill but that seems to be at the expense of physicality, size, ruggedness and even durability. Does Hughes hold up through a long, grinding, push and pull playoffs? He gets injured fairly easily.

Devils don't exhibit any rugged mentality in their play either. Their makeup is sort of like a glass cannon.

Avs are very balanced and happen to have a lot of speedy skill on top of that. Their guys aren't as small either as the Devils. Devils aren't balanced like the Avs. They've overdosed on undersized, skill guys that already have health questions.
