I don't know much about Trochek but there are a few big positives to take away if he is legitimately the target.

1. Walking away from Ryan Strome;
2. Adding someone to compete with Chytil for icetime not straight up usurp him;
3. Adding someone for reasons other than he can probably play good pond hockey with Panarin.

dont get pissy with me, youre too blind to see that the team that just won the cup is one easy answer?
Im talking about High end talent. Colorado obviously was a much better team than the Rangers. I mentioned 5 players that are high end players on the Rangers and you said it was hyperbole and that plenty of teams could match. I asked you to name them. I wasn't being pissy.

Did you watch the playoffs? It's not "might". It's happening.
Chytil? Did you watch his regular season? He may take the next step but he def hasn’t proven enough to this point.
I agree we should move forward with Panarin but I'm tired of tiptoeing around him in roster building threads finding "who he can play with."

I could see that with kids like Laf/Kakko/Kravtsov who need more confidence at this level or even Kreider with his unique skills.

Panarin is supposed to be a Hart-caliber player. Filip Chyil is not Kevin Rooney or Cody McLeod. If he can't work with Chytil, he's not as good as he thinks he is.
Eh, don’t disagree for the most part. It isn’t the ‘best friends line.’ At the same time, players just don’t work well sometimes. Gomez/Jagr was a disaster. I think Chytil/Panarin would’ve figured out if they clicked by now.

I'd be amenable starting the season Mika, Fil, Goodrow, Rydahl down the middle and see what happens. But that's me.

Honestly, I've seen it used more as a cautionary tale to not do something incredibly stupid with Kakko, Laf or Chytil... I know I've brought it up that way. If people are EXPECTING to land another deal like that in our favor, well those Gomez for McD, Bras for Zib type deals can't be banked on.
That’s a VERY weak group of centers

Why didn’t we re-sign Kinky for AHL. He can’t be expecting an NHL backup position at this point
Last year Kinkaid more or less split time with Huska, who himself is mediocre at best. I think they're going to give Garand every opportunity to take the bulk of the starts down there this year with Parker Gahagen (who Hartford signed) or another AHL guys backing him up. They could also try Lindbom, but he seems more likely to end up getting the starts in Jacksonville.

In either instance, I just don't think either Kinkaid or the Rangers saw him as an AHL backup.

5.5M is not a big contract.
i mean tying up 14million into centers that will age out at the same time and leave you with two underperforming assets at the same time is an issue.

dont confuse me saying the age curves of the top 2cs being the same is an issue as if i said we cant pay a 2c 5.5. we CAN pay a 2c 5.5, but i dont want to have two big contracts running concurrently with players diminishing concurrently
