its a one year deal that is also a 35+ contract. Relax.
It's actually not a 35+ contract. To qualify as a 35+ contract, the player has to be 35 as of July 1st of the first year of the contract, and the contract has to be at least 2 years in length and front loaded.

I have for, well maybe since I joined this board, hated UFA signings, and really I am not totally hating what the Rangers did here.

7 years is a long time, they realized that.

1 year for a decent backup, at that price, another good idea.

I'd like to see them sign Kakko to a two year bridge, then work out the rest of the off-season.

If Halak received a performance bonus, that much have been within the plus 35 contract rules though, right?

didn't halak have a games played performance bonus with VAN last year as well?

Kadri and Strome two guys I’ve been saying I have no clue who would pay kadri like a number one center and I have no idea who would be dumb enough to give Ryan Strome any kind of real money and term.

I think think Lou is going to be one of the schmucks that takes one of them

I learn something new every day.

Are the Devils just gonna tank again next season? I mean their main acquisition is Vitek Vanacek.
They can’t win the lottery again next year. Also the Capitals looked at both their goalies this year and said nope. VV isn’t even an upgrade for them.

It's a different rule. Players who are 35+ on a 1 year contract can have performance bonuses. IIRC, we gave Shanahan performance bonuses on consecutive 1 year deals. They were not 35+ contracts though. To qualify as a 35+ contract, the contract must be at least 2 years in length, like the contract we gave to Brashear. And if the contract is more than 1 year, performance bonuses can't be included.

I cannot get over this paccioretty deal. How on earth did that happen?
And how is that ok in this horseshit league.

The guy was basically a PPG player when healthy. @Machinehead is totally right about this gong show cap. Guys made more money in 2003 & teams had bigger payrolls. But now the players need to subsidize the owners losses because of...covid. The other 3 leagues are laughing their asses off at the NHL, daily.

And by the way kane will be a ranger at the deadline for the final push. Kravtsov or kakko Lundkvist and our first no doubt in my mind will be gone and kane will slide onto that line with Panarin and Trocheck

Drury will get it done zero doubt in my mind. He’s going to overpay and be all in

Lundkvist is a top prospect still to this day. I think he sucks personally but I don’t think we’re going to give him away.

flyer's offseason plan was to sign ADA??! LOL.

I heard from someone local in PA that's involved with youth hockey, and he was almost certain
that Gaudreau was signing in philly.. I wan't nothing more than for NJ, NYI, and PHI to fail miserably every season... but why would Gaudreau go to CLB of all places, especially for less $?
