Aho gets a lot of guaranteed money and it takes him right to free agency so he can cash in on another huge contract

Carolina likely didn't want to do a contract that takes him right up to free agency and instead buy out more UFA years which could impact Aho's next contract negatively

Aho is only giving up 1 UFA year. The rest are RFA years. He'll be UFA at age 26 and he'll really cash in, if he keeps playing well.
