Look it--Panarin comes in and Kreider will go out--we should get a 1st + for him. And if we want to keep Kreider we can always move others like Namestnikov, Strome or even Buchnevich. We also have Kakko and Kravtsov coming in and still have all of Chytil, Anderssson, Howden etc. None of the young have moved and we're going to feed our rebuild with the return from Kreider or whoever. Mika gets to play with a legit 1st liner as well.

By the way--we should get rid of Brendan Smith pronto. And if there is a taker for Shattenkirk anywhere move him along too.

If the rest of the hockey world could give the NyR their due.

Your talking one of the greatest off-seasons ever, any pro sport.

That’s what having assets and flexibility and the resources and market they have..... with alittle luck mixed in AFFORDS you the opportunity to pull off something like this

Substitute trouba for EK. And the rangers just pulled off the mastermind play.

Off-seasons mean nothing without wins. If they win a cup within the next several years with these players playing big roles, sure. But no one cares what happens on July 1st if it doesn't pay off in future June's. We should know that.

This guy Pagnotta is a clown IMO.

Instead of saying 12M per which has been reported ad nauseum, he totaled it up, making it seem like he knows something... "It's in this range" YEAH, NO ****
Has he gotten anything right? He seems to just be taking a bunch of stabs in the dark.

That wasn’t the point of his post

And my point is, why bring up a name we had no shot at signing.

If the Rangers were in on Tavares, were would have been looking at 13+ per year.

Had Tavares not taken less to sign with Toronto, hes EASILY getting 12++ from any number of suitors last season.

Mentioning JT as it pertains to Panarin is silly

I'd take it. It's a lot of money but we didn't have to give up anything but cash for him. Much rather have him at that price than guys like Skinner at 9mil.

Did I say he was like one of those guys? It doesn't matter that he's a star. The rest of the team isn't ready and he plays the least important position on the ice. Everyone is super excited about this crazy off-season in which we compiled all kinds of grade A prospects but for some reason finishing that job wasn't palatable.

I'd prefer to have ELC Byfield in the lineup 3 years from now over Panarin, but I guess a couple of one and done playoff appearances between now and then will make it all worth it.

I have to admit they really had me fooled this time with the talk of patience and no shortcuts.

Rangers are always going to be the Rangers.

Rick Nash is the NYR legacy Panarin will have to outlive. Getting overpaid to drastically underperform and largely preventing us from icing a competitive team.
