He does have a cheap contract, and between that and Kochetkov's ridiculously cheap contract I wouldn't find it crazy to just carry 3 goalies with Kochetkov as the starter, Andersen as the star reliever, and a ~1.5m Ned type as your more typical backup. The guy just cannot stay healthy. He can be really good when he plays, but if he's constantly missing major significant time every year, you really have to question if its worth keeping him around anymore, especially once his contract expires this summer.
$3.5m simply isn't a boat anchor in the current cap environment.AT this point hes a 3.5M boat anchor that can't be relied on for anything. Not Sorry. Even if it's the blood thing again, its just too much of a drag on the team.
I’m pretty sure that question was already answered long ago… it’s just he was still under contract this yearThe guy just cannot stay healthy. The controversy is if we even have a goalie who isn't ded.At least we don’t have a goalie controversy?
Especially with LTIR for the rest of this season if needed.$3.5m simply isn't a boat anchor in the current cap environment.
I’m not concluding it’s a blood issue again; rather, something muscular.
If it was blood, then RBA would have have stated it was long term up front.
Hopefully, Freddie is back by 2025.
FWIW: event though Freddie is “cheap” at $3.5m the reality is if a player is not available then to me, the cost is infinite.
Canes have successfully money pucked this position for some time allowing the team to field 3 good D pairs and 4 competent lines.
But…..as we all know, F & D don’t matter if your goalie is trash. Interesting times 2 years in a row.
Have they tested this guy for some kind of medical deficiency (other than the blood clotting?). He cannot get healthy once injured unlike any player I’ve ever seen.
AYUP. I have questioned his "compete" with regards to this for years and have been chastized for it.I've had a suspicion that he might have some kind of mental disorder. Anxiety or OCD or depression or something.
I know for a fact that the 21-22 playoffs, where we were rolling with an injured Raanta and a green PK, Freddie was healthy enough to play. Physically, there wasn't anything wrong with him. Or, at least, he was cleared by the medical staff from injury. My source told me he had "The yips", which is why he wasn't playing.
It would explain why his recovery time tables are always very vague and tend to jump around (as it has in this case).
Isn't that "We don't have a goalie "At least we don’t have a goalie controversy?

The blood thing sort of caused me to scale back on that, but here we are AGAIN. He's a f***ing headcase and its been f***ing us over for a while. You trust this dude with the playoffs? No way. I don't want to see him in a single playoff game.
I wanted his ass gone after the playoffs last year and I want his ass gone now. The likelyhood is he isn't tradeable unless someone is REALLY hurting.
