Freddy put in his five years and largely did well, given he joined a lottery team and by the end the Leafs were walking to 100 point seasons, yeah ‘playoffs!’, but overall, he and the Leafs have been competitive.

And he did well financially and in terms of putting his name out there. He’ll get win 300 next year, that’s top 40 all time, and I know stats are different but the current 40th most goals is Jeremy Roenick with 513.

Very good career he’s had.

But it was time to move on, it’d be great to have him at his current hit backing up Campbell, but he wouldn’t have stayed for it.

I’d be much happier if Mrazek made 2.5.

Don’t really miss Andersen. He’ll play great 90% of the year and completely collapse in the big moments.

I’ve even seen some Canes fan notice the trend of letting a deflating goal in late when they need the big save.

Andersens overall body of work has never been the issue, it was a mental block that happened every time the team needed him.

Let’s see him win a playoff series/game 7 in Carolina before throwing it in the face of Leaf fans.
Wasn't the question "Who is the better goalie"?

While Andersen has clearly been better, I think people are selling Mrazek short here.

He's struggled with injuries and finding a rhythm this year, but he's capable of playing lights out like he did in Carolina's improbable run in 18-19 when they were a bottom 2 team December 31st and went on to make the playoffs and get to the ECF. That was some of the best goaltending I have ever seen on a consistent basis as Mrazek was fantastic. The Canes had to play a couple of months like it was an elimination game because they had no room for error and he was a big reason they did what they did.

He was 17-6-1 with a .922 SV% and a 2.25 GAA with 3 shutouts. Those numbers, IMO, don't tell the story about how good he was during that stretch.

With Campbell being a tire fire right now, I would hope Mrazek gets a string of games to develop a rhythm, get more familiarity with his teammates, etc... Consistency has been his issue, but when he's on, he can be real good.

The talking heads in HNIC last mighty said it should be Mrazek’s net right now until proven otherwise. Not that he’s been great for the reasons you mentioned but Campbell isn’t an nhl goalie at the moment so Leafs just gotta go with whoever is giving them the best chance to win.

this is starting to look like the right answer. Campbells clearly not getting it done. Anyone who’s seen that Detroit game saw 3-4 goals you’d want an nhl goaltender to save. He’s been bad for a few weeks now so I think it’s time for mrazek to show us why he’s getting decent amount of praise from canes fans and earn his 3.8.

Mrazek's issue isn't talent, it's the injury bug. When healthy and motivated, he's a solid NHL goalie.

This actually goes perfectly well with why Andersen was so bad the last two seasons including being the third best goalie on the Leafs last season.

Injuries matter and so does confidence level if you are struggling due to them. Andersen has managed to avoid injury for the first season in what seems like forever and Mrazek was hurt in his very first game and didn't play his 5th game until January.
