Minten was one of the Maple Leafs' top prospects. He also played with Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard at West Van Academy Prep.


A second-round pick by Toronto in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-2, 192-pound center has a lot of potential to develop into an everyday NHL player. During the 2024 World Juniors, Minten captained Team Canada and tallied three points in five games before they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Czech Republic.

Minten has played in just 19 games and is only 20 years old, Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube called the center “a veteran on the bench.”

“He’s excellent. He talks, really, like a vet on the bench. He’s already got that mindset and knows the game extremely well,” Berube told reporters in December, via SportsNet’s Luke Fox. “He’s not a guy you gotta really teach a whole lot to. It’s just, he needs reps. Because he understands the game. He understands the systems very well.

I'll wait until next year. If you stink at a non pro level 2nd year out of the draft your never gonna cut it in the bigs. BC is loaded excuse plays. But Beecher at Michigan when they had all those top 10 picks was better than this.

We also might have effed up our goaltending for the next decade to get LeToruneau so it's nothing like a good team whiffing with their inherently late first.

Minten certainly is an interesting player. and just shows what a crapshoot the draft and predraft evaluation can be, read through some of the pre draft articles, and they were very similar to the pre draft evaluations on Beecher. Both were buried on a team with amazing talent and limited their opportunities to showcase offensive skills, etc.

Rooting for the kid, could really use him to become a long term Bruin. Hopefully at least able to get it as a middle 6 center.

He sure has received some bad directions. I am surprised BC, in all their wisdom didn't advise him to wait a year or two.

Guy pretty much seems like a bottom 6 lock within a year or 2. This team needs a lot of help to get back to the playoffs but you need 6 guys to play on the bottom 2 lines and if he can be penciled in long term, one less guy to worry about figuring out a plan for.

Really hoping he can be more of a middle 6 guy instead of a bottom 6. Most likely a 3rd liner, but hopefully one who can put up 35-45 points, as opposed to the 15-20 point range
