First time in a while I'm more interested in the tournament after all that stuff. Seems they're sorting out things finally.

Love or hate him Dubas and his scouting staff crushed 2nd round picks.
Robertson, Knies, and Minten were all great picks.
Hirvonen still has time to figure it out if he can get healthy and Niemela looks pretty good but he was a 3rd on a pick that would now be in the second round.
I don’t miss Dubas but hopefully they keep a most of the scouting staff in place.

My hope is that Tre just let's our scouts do what they've been doing. The only thing is we really need to start getting the D pool stocked up. Niemela is the only guy we have that has top 4 potential. Kokkonen looks like he might become a 3rd pair guy with Villeneuve and Ksoter being behind him. Pretty thin. We have lots of forwards and the goalie prospects are doing pretty well.
Underrated trade for Dubas to flip the 2nd round picks with Ott and pick up the 3rd.
Hirvonen and Niemela both might play for the Leafs.

I'd prefer to give up late firsts than either Minten or Cowan who seem more likely than not to contribute within 2/3 years.

Anyway. This is great for Minten. Down the line, I'm not expecting him to be a star. I'm hoping for a 3rd line centre that can put up 30-40 points and be dependable on both sides of the ice in all situations. That is still a very valuable piece, and one this team is constantly searching for and sometimes wasting assets on.
Keep this kid and let him carve out his role, he will be needed.
