How is it “eye opening?” He performed the same in the USHL and NCAA. This is exactly what I expect of him in the AHL. When you dominate THIS MUCH as a youth athlete, you are likely to be similar as an adult. Primeau did not dominate until after he started at Northeastern.

I find his differentiating factor to be his hockey IQ. Both of his parents are lawyers and you can see Fowler is sharp minded himself.

Think this is pretty clearly Fowler right now

The way I see it the team will be grooming them differently.
Fowler will be the starter in Laval and Dobes the backup in Montreal.
There can't be too many people here believing that Fowler will ever be riding the pine?

Fowler has a good chance at becoming an elite goaltender in the NHL and Dobes could be an elite backup. If everything goes as planned the team will be better when Fowlers joins in a couple of years. Could make a run for the the Calder. Hutson, Demidov, Fowler. 3 Calders in a row.

My guess is he comes in for the 2027-28 season when Monty's contract is up. Maybe they move Monty after next season if Fowler rapidly progresses. But no way they risk Dobes on waivers. Monty and Fowler will never be on the same team together unless there's an injury to Dobes

As I’ve posted already, he had the third highest goals saved above expected in the league. Only the Vezina trophy winner and the Leafs goalie had more. He is wildly underrated here. A legit 1A. And a workhorse.

That one stat is *litetally* the most important stat you can find. He played behind a porous defence and if another goalie was in net, more pucks would have crossed the goal line and the Habs would not have made the playoffs, unless he had been traded him for Connor Hellebuyck. He played almost every game down the stretch and would have played far more in the past if he wasn’t part of an absurd 3-man rotation last year (or behind Bobrovsky on a team who clearly didn’t value him). Comparing him to Thompson when he played 2 1/2 games is… ... what’s the word I’m looking for here?… … moronic? No. Wait… Idiotic? Closer… Lazy? I’m getting there… F’ing stupid. Yup. That’s the one. Fowler.

He's an athlete in net. Smaller. Has some of the quickest feet I've seen in a long time. Valiquette was speaking recently on RKB and mentioned that he sees somewhat smaller, more athletic, goalies making a comeback. He oozes "big game" potential. I just don't see that from Dobes.

Everyone speak about Jacob Fowler (me too), but man. Jakub Dobes 23 years old, 6"5 and very clutch to me since he join the Habs.

So who do you think will be the future starter of Habs?

I have high hope with both, but Dobes impressive me very much!

I’m scared they trade Dobes and keep Monty to make room for Fowler and Dobes becomes a legend. His size and those far-post glove and pad Carey Price-like saves have me convinced. Good poise, can play the puck… Weird having too many good goalies!

Picked Fowler, but including Dobes and not Montembeault is crazy imo. I feel like it will be one of the three, outside chance it's Primeau.

The hardest thing for a goalie to do is take a small sample and make it bigger. Dobes has looked good but tons of goalies have looked good in small samples.

I doubt Primeau re-signs. Because I think the plan should be to give Fowler the lion's share of the games next year - and this post season.
