Can’t argue his stats though. Might supplant Dobes at least.

He played behind a porous defence and if another goalie was in net, more pucks would have crossed the goal line and the Habs would not have made the playoffs, unless he had been traded him for Connor Hellebuyck. He played almost every game down the stretch and would have played far more in the past if he wasn’t part of an absurd 3-man rotation last year (or behind Bobrovsky on a team who clearly didn’t value him). As I’ve posted already, he had the third highest goals saved above expected in the league. Only the Vezina trophy winner and the Leafs goalie had more. He is wildly underrated here. A legit 1A. And a workhorse.
It’s always the shiny toy around the corner.

That'S the thing.
He's probably a 1A that works better with a 1B than with 2, specifically because he's not a workhorse. He's not a 1, but he's an above-average starter, for the last two seasons anyways.

And, frankly, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You can absolutely win with a 1A. What you can't do is pay a 1A 7.5-ish M in the current financial configuration.
