Brock Faber with another ho hum 25 minutes, +3, including making the poised play out of the zone that led to the empty netter

probably not a top pairing dman though and kind of worthless, etc.

How could anyone have predicted, etc. etc.?

But I won't engage him for the team that pays my salary, instead letting teammates that make far less than me do the dirty work. I will also run my mouth throughout all of it and look foolish.
lol. I don't beleive for a second Drew would drop the gloves and fight. If he did, it would end up like when Carter fought someone on Pitt (forgot who) -- that was embarrassing for him.

More like this for DD:

I think Drew is super competitive and WANTS to fight but knows he's not good at it

And I also think he was deterred by getting amped up enough to go all David-vs-Goliath on thornton before realizing OH SHIT JOE IS LEFTY OH GOD

But maybe he will go with Matt because he's kind of a shitty fighter of similar size himself, it'll be one of those undercard lightweight fights where neither guy is playing a lick of defense and the first guy to land a shot on the button wins

Can't see it ever happening.

To be fair, Biz put him on the spot and Doughty isn't going to say "No. I would not fight him."

Tkachuk would murder Doughty let's not get ridiculous here.
Doughty would do just fine. He's bigger and stronger.

Pasta fought him last year. M. Tkachuk is not an amazing fighter by any means. Doughty could just wrestle with him and not throw punches. That's what has been so frustrating for me: Doughty would be just fine if they ever fought so it is ridiculous that he didn't do so back when their "rivalry" was going on.

But I won’t do that

I know it's how tournaments work, but I think it's lame that the USA has to beat Canada twice to win, but Canada only has to beat the USA once to win it all.

That said, it's going to be a great game and it's so much better than watching an All-Star game (so is a kick in the nuts, but you get my point). I'm also glad that we only have two players in the tournament. Seeing all these guys getting injured is scary and I'd be pissed if Kempe and (to a lesser extent) Doughty missed the rest of the season and playoffs because they participated in it.

Godamnit Drew you'd better not drop the gloves, I'm pretty sure M. Tkachuk hurt his hand during his fight. Quinn Hughes coming back would be crazy, I'd be freaking out if I were a 'Nucks fan right about now. Thursday's game has all the makings of an instant classic.

getting his ass whooped right after getting demolished from a check looks worse imo.
When did this happen, or are you just saying that would be something that looks bad? They always say it's about showing up, not how you do in the scrap. The Kelly Buchberger rule.

Drew's only career fight was in 2012 against Thornton. He got fed and lived to tell the tale. Thornton is a much tougher opponent than Matthew Tkachuk.

Kopitar's only career fight was 10 days later. What happened two month's later? Strange coincidence, I guess.

Mother of God.

MT played the rest of the game until the 3rd when he took himself out after a little spin around shot on net. Would be weird if it was his hand from the fight. I thought it may have been something lower body since he spun around to take that shot.

Quinn Hughes returning would bring an instant threat from the blueline, something the USA doesn't have outside him. Not a single goal from their backend and only a few minor assists. Never seen so many guys either miss the net or pass up shots before in this kind of tourney . They're gonna need to bring a few other scoring options for the 2026 games.

Yeah their best 'offensive' guys outside Hughes are really all two-way guys. very very good at offense, but no dynamic offensive threats really. Obviously Werenski is no slouch nor are Fox, McAvoy, even Faber to a degree...but Quinn Hughes is transformative.

Was a little surprised that with no Quinn they didn't opt for John Carlson but I suspect they figured he wasn't that different from the two way guys otherwise.
