The NBA should try playing basketball at some point, with actual rules. They turned the regular season into the all-star game by no longer calling, well, anything. No need for an all-star game if guys can take 4-5 steps before they dunk. Never mind the flopping has eclipsed anything seen in soccer (football).

The athletes are so much better than they were 20-30 years ago but the game is a joke.

NBA is a bit of a mess and the viewership is off.

Talent of athletes is a good if not better than ever
Rivalries (down)
Analytics (up)
Load Managment (yikes)
3 points shot (that’s way too much of the game now)
Homogenized looking product (yup) its raining 3’s all day most players on all teams.
4 or 5 steps before you dribble or after you pick up the ball……no problem if you are a star we don’t call the rules.
Defense soft
Passion and compete seems off
Its all about players individual brands now and not the team brands
In one summary statement it all looks way too much like a soft all star game now to me at least and that is not a good thing.

Some home fans do have baggage when it comes their own stars.
It's part of the hivemind; the board will inevitably complain about Logan Stanley even if he has a good game or series of games. The 3 golden boys on the Jets are Morrissey, Lowry and Helle. Criticism of them is usually shut down pretty quick.

It's not just HF Jets, it's everywhere.

One player that was underwhelming to me was Fox. He just seemed to lack the pace to make an impact with the puck and wasn't able to handle the speed and size of Canadian forwards in his zone.

Yea his reputation took a hit. In their first game with Canada Fox only got 13:44 in minutes and was clearly on their bottom pair. Last night he got 17:05 but he was also on their Ice for the McDavid goal and that wasn’t good. Some guys really rose to the challenge but Fox looked a bit over his head in this competition. His game is good in the NHL but this higher pace proved to be a bit too much for him.

Not sure I agree on Helle, we have lots of fans on the Jets board that blame him for our playoff woes. Morrissey will take some criticism in the PGT when he has an off game but on balance he is an excellent player. He was probably Canada’s second best D man in this tournament. Lowry has limited offensive ability which gets pointed out allot by our fans but other than that he provides great value, despite the fact Adam is our 2nd most important (shut down) centre he still has to answer the bell when other teams take liberties with our players. That tends to get you allot of respect and admiration. Much improved Captain, plays against the other team's top stars, leads, fights, and is emotionally so stable. He checks allot of boxes and doesn’t get paid the big bucks either.

Stanley is a lightning rod but it is what it is with him. There are always going to be whipping boys.

One thing I have noticed is if you go to any fans home board most of their best players take more heat on their own boards than they do on the main boards.

Listened to 32 Minutes this morning, and neither of the hosts mentioned Morrissey as a player that surprised them this tournament. They mentioned Parayko, Toews, Harley, etc.

They better have just already had a high impression of Morrissey, because he played superbly.

That's because Stanley isn't anywhere near the hockey player that Morrissey , Lowry and Helly are, not even remotely close.

What I think is the Binnington was better than Helle in this high stakes game.

In this game, he was. But that is no criticism of Helle whatsoever.

I dislike Binnington. He comes across as a real dumbass and he is very highly overrated. He's just not a very good goalie. But he was very good in this game.

I do not like Binnington either but his post game interview has somewhat changed my mind. He was thankful and humble just the way Canadians are meant to be.
Oh, and by the way, I hate Gretzky more now than I ever did. What a a-hole.

Just like I said before last Saturday's game the winner of that game would lose in the final if they met.
These are two evenly matched teams and it would come down to a mistake ... seriously who leaves the best hockey player in the world uncovered in the slot?
The Americans played physical the first game and it took its toll on them with the injuries which proves its hard to play that heavy game every night This game there was more open ice which leads me to WFT was Sullivan doing scratching the faster skater the highest goal scorer highest point player on the team?
I know Connor had a tough first game but the next two games he was better than a few players on the USA team. You bring in a slower skater Kreider to play 6 minutes ... was it for the TV ratings NY player over a small market player?
Clearly Cooper out coached Sullivan.
