A swinging tire in goal would be better than Binningieve

So a rematch with the Americans….

Canada was the better team on Saturday, especially once the US went up, they just turtled — but the issue is it’ll be a tight game where a bad goal is likely the difference. And Binnington is much more likely to give up a bad goal again than Helle

Nice work by the Tampa Line to shut it down late in the 3rd period. :sarcasm:

Sanheim-Doughty probably wouldn't have been my top choice for shutdown defense either.

Laine is practically unplayable...what a fall from grace.
I hope Hockey Canada looks at some of their choices and we don’t get a repeat of this stuff in the Olympics next year.

Cirelli should be nowhere near this team. Parayko has been washed for years. Jarvis is a good young player but way too much talent was left off this team for him. Bennett has been fine but he’s not at this level. Doughty had a good season last year but he’s in his mid-30s and coming off a long-term injury, not sure he’s a good pick. Airlifting in Harley as the #8 is silly considering what our other options are (he played well against the Americans I thought, though). The goaltending roster choices were stupid and going all-in with Binnington when he’s been a sieve all tournament is moronic. There’s been other dumb lineup choices like playing Stone with McDavid and Point when those two guys can fly and Stone can barely skate these days. Way too much nepotism/politics behind this roster makeup, again.

The US made some suspect decisions too like leaving Robertson off the team in favour of Trochek and Nelson but Hockey Canada has done a lot to put us behind the eight-ball from the word go.

Crosby showing his experience and making the big plays when needed.

Good to see the big guns in Mack and McDavid really get going. Thought Point was a great fit for McDavid and Sam looked good with Sid and Mack.

The bottom line had a real nice cycle game.

I thought Marner started to play a lot better the back half of the game but Cirelli killed so many plays today.

Defense was largely fine outside the last few minutes.

Doughty despite my reservations has upped his game and played quite well after game 1. Really only Colton that doesn't belong imo.

My guess is Harley was probably one of the only one available at such short notice.

But I do think they need to bring some of the youth in on D. I don't think you can count on the three older guys selected to be part of this group going forward. Dobson and Bouchard really should be integrated into this team.

Well said, @surixon about today's game.

Not really going to nitpick the roster as it's been beaten to death but just to piggy back on some quick thoughts.

Cirelli is so far behind the pace of play and just is not this caliber of player, whatsoever. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Really hard to watch Parayko wanting to carry the puck as he does in these games. Figured he'd be a little more understanding who his partner is considering how many times they've crossed paths in the Central. No luck.

A lot of Cooper's line-up decisions paid off in spades today considering how much for fluid the team as a whole looked until the floodgates opened late. Will be the guy in the pipes that decides their fate, ultimately.

All things considered, another classic, tight game set up for Thursday. Best case outcome of this 4 Nations.
