I mean Canada creates elite talent.

USA has done a great job of developing 1st line talent, but forward wise, outside of Matthews they lack elite scoring talent. And well, Matthews didn't score a goal this event.
Defensively, USA has some very good young talent that may be legit.

The only area the USA was above Canada was at goalie. imo

America just has never had that elite talented player.

Mario 02
Crosby 10
McDavid 25
Bedard 26

It's great Brady and Matthew like to stage fights in group chats. I mean they pick their battles carefully. Guys like Bennett inches shorter. Would they drop the gloves with Jamie Benn or Jarome Iginla if they were playing? Doubt it.

You need pure top level clutch talent to win. Americans just don't have it.

Planning multiple fights from puck drop in a group chat is so childish and immature the US deserved to lose. That kind of nonsense has zero place in international hockey.

Living in a place where the entire country has cold winters?

The US has more people living in cold weather climate than Canada does.

We just have the ice (literally) to close out big games. In Canada nothing comes easy. Dealing with harsh winters requires a certain toughness. You can't teach that on the sunny beaches of Florida. USA came close but as always come up empty when it matters most.

The sport is behind Football NFL/College, Basketball, MLB in US

When your best athletes play other sports do you get the best players?

Basketball and Baseball are much cheaper to play.

Canada is not competitive in basketball and baseball to US. Kids may play it there but it's not a priority

Imagine if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had chosen hockey instead.

Yet the leading NBA scorer is still a Canadian.

So you think a Canadian all star team would beat a US all star team. Really? Ha ha ha

Didn't an an American lead the NHL in goals last year.

Lame comment. Outliers happen

Since 1992 US has won all but 1 Olympic gold. And a lot more countries play hoops.

43 countries represented in NBA, just 17 for NHL.

I think Canada went into the tournament with a plan, an overwhelming desire to leverage their talent to win, as they do with all tournaments.

The US went in like high schoolers planning mass fights in group chats before games. It's clear who wanted it more. The cream always rises to the top.

im not sure whats responsible for that, maybe its part of their national identity.
CHL players have to grind through a pressure filled 4 round 7 game series playoff; there are many positives to the NTDP, but one of the downsides is that the messaging that I heard was they prioritise development and winning isn’t necessarily the most important thing for them.

Canada consistently develops the absolute top tier.

Gretzky
Lemieux
Crosby
MacKinnon
McDavid

2023 - Bedard
2024 - Celebrini
2025 - Schaefer
2026 - McKenna
2027 - Dupont
2028 - Maddox Schultz

It was literally game of an inch.
Canada won only 1 game in regulation so it's not like they dominated anyone.

Enjoy the win but let's not get ahead of ourselves thinking team canada is a tier above anyone including Finland.
But theyve won the close ones like this for 100 years... How do they always find a way?

USA is supposed to be in their golden era, Canada is supposed to be on the way down yet Canada finds a way

The fighting was all about getting the USA team fired up. If they only get five minutes, it is definitely allowed.

Beyond that, I would say that as a tactic it failed IF the USA also hoped that their edgy play would intimidate the Canadians.
