Like I said, I’d have gone with Bedard.

We’ll see how it goes. It may not matter at all.

It's not like Team Canada wouldn't love to name him (I'm sure the sponsors would like it).

He screwed up his shot on the team (if he doesn't make it) by having a poor season relative to expectations of him.

Maybe he does still make it as a auxiliary forward or something but if so it's probably more for marketing reasons.

Dude isn't even on pace for 20 goals right now.
It’s such a short window though… he had a dozen games where he didn’t do much and apart from that he’s a point per game this season.

I don’t think you throw this guy out based on a cold stretch. I get it, he hasn’t been great but he’s a young phenom in a brutal team.

Dobson is the better all around defenceman. Taking Bouchard over him is just silly

Fine for Oilers brass as it likely knocks 500k at least off his AAV on an extension.

Noah Dobson is having a shit season though yikes, -9 on a defensive Islanders team that has a great goalie, that's horribad and only 11 points in 26 games.

Actually, he isn't even that much better.
However, go look at Bouchs play in the playoffs thus far.....Dobson doesn't even come close to that level of dominance

Not taking the proven big game player is just plain dumb...and silly

Sorokin in 6W, 6L
Varlamov is 3W, 4L

11 points puts him 7th on the team for points with the leader having 20 points in 26 games. Let’s not act like the entire Islanders team isn’t having a shit season

A 25 game sample size doesn’t erase the 290 game sample size that shows that wasn’t a sustainable level of play.

I would've taken Weegar or Tanev over Parayko though. They can do the same job defensively while being better at moving the puck.

Yea, Parayko is the guy on the list that, on its surface, makes the least sense.

Along with the Sanheim pick, maybe they are really looking for size to deal with the rumored American selections. On that note, the US D looks a little smallish does it not?

Team Canada typically leans into defense and risk-free games so not surprised Bouchard didn't make the cut.

Did I read correctly? Tanev a better puck mover then Parayko? That must be a joke right? Right?

This might be the first time I’ve read Tanev and puck mover in the same sentence. Tanev is many things but I don’t think he’s been known as a puck mover

Probably because most people don’t actually understand the game and correlate points with puck moving.

Tanev is excellent at passing the puck out of the defensive zone.

Aside from Fox and Hughes, who on the projected U.S. defense is small?
