It’s a good thing. We are hurt and can rest up and heal.

Also remember. They played themselves off the team. Hyman and Bouchard would be on the team if they played half decent this year. I’m more than okay with them being off the team.

Schiefele has been playing through an injury, and not very well the last couple weeks. I’m a Jets fan and he wouldn’t make my team Canada.

Scheifele isn't good enough offensively for the top 6, and he's even further from good enough defensively for the bottom 6

Would love to see forward lines something like the following:

Marner-McDavid-Reinhart
Point-Crosby-Stone
Bennett-MacKinnon-Konecny
Marchand-Cirelli-Hagel
Jarvis

1st line is pretty simple, pure unadulterated offense. 2nd line is the matchup line, can have them lining up against the other nations best forwards and winning that battle handedly. 3rd line is the bull in a china shop line, and will be giving the other teams defense fits with their aggressive style. 4th line is a pure shutdown line with Jarvis cycling in. Gives Canada the peace of mind knowing that for 45-55 minutes of the game you have one of McDavid, Crosby, or MacKinnon on the ice as well which is a ridiculous advantage over the other nations.

He isn't significantly better at any one thing than the guys they picked, regardless the bigger omission would be Robert Thomas, who's a better player.

Beg to differ when compared to cirelli but yes Thomas is another candidate too.

I get it though . It’s building the best well rounded roster and not just the most skill or who puts up the most points .
Parayko is kinda an underwhelming selection IMO . And no Thompson is a head scratcher .

Listening to Carlo Coliacovo's thinking on the goaltending picks for Canada today sort of hurt the ears.

We know it's the reasoning behind why those guys were picked and it's still so utterly unreassuring.

I got to say I'm not crazy about McDavid and Marner both on the same line, I feel like they would try to pass the puck into the net.
Not really any horrible picks. I think I've read that Parayko's game has slipped but I guess he's there to deal with the Tkachuks so I guess we'll see how that works.

The goaltending is honestly shocking bad by Team Canada standards and even more shocking when you realize that’s close to the best they could have done.

Jarvis over Scheifele is a surprise for me. I thought Scheifele had earned a spot with his start & also being a C. On defense I probably would've taken Tanev over Parayko, but Armstrong's familiarity seems to have given Colton the edge

Also a little surprised by Montembeault. I wouldve taken Fleury but I expected it to be Thompson.

Cirelli making it as a 4C that can kill penalties, not too surprised by that given Cooper is the coach. Maybe Bennett is a little surprising. Seems like they really went for grit & getting guys who could fill roles.

Being a C is a major negative for Team Canada. We are always much stronger down the middle than on wing, so we have multiple centres who need to be moved.

Scheifele is not strong enough offensively to get a top 6 role, and not good enough defensively to get a bottom 6 role.
