B team is still better than Finland and comparable to Sweden
Cooper clearly wants to load the Top 6 with skill and the Bottom 6 with shutdown guys, physicality, and ample options for special teams.
Leaving Jarvis aside, I wouldn't take any of those forwards over the 12 Cooper/Armstrong chose.

Weegar should have Parayko's spot, but otherwise the D was chosen correctly too.

To be fair, it does mention Parayko as someone who carries the puck up the ice like few others in the blurb above the charts. Parayko definitely can move the puck well. Not sure why the Bkues have been so bad offensively with him on the ice. Still, Tanev is also an underrated puck mover out of the zone and up the ice. He just doesn’t have much vision or creatively in the offensive zone once the puck is there.

I wonder if there's some beef between Hill and Thompson. Regardless I'm glad they picked the guy who won and not his backup. I wish Fleury would've been there just for the vibes.

Bennett absolutely belongs. He can play on any line and go out there when shit needs disturbing
The sort of vibes i associate with MAF I don't think we need.

All due respect.

I don’t mind the roster, but there are definitely some homer picks from the management group

Parayko is the most surprising one, I wouldn’t even put him in the top 15 for Canadian defenseman, if Armstrong wasn’t a part of the decision makers I don’t see him on the team

Scheifele is probably the biggest snub, can’t bring him so Cooper can bring half his roster I guess 🤣

Sanhiem is a name that came out of nowhere but I’ll have to plead ignorance there, I don’t watch a lot of east coast regular season games and Philly hasn’t been in the playoffs for a while, but based off what I’ve been reading he must be phenomenal defensively

This team has a good chance to win, I do like USAs roster a bit better though

In a tournament this short, if both Hill and Binnington (in whatever order) both shit the bed or get hurt, the tournament is basically over anyway. Might as well bring in Flower for one last ride

That's where Monty comes in.

I just can't do MAF, 2004 is forever etched in my mind.

One thing that should inspire confidence is this team is full of serial winners. Less talent than the 2010s teams, but guys who step up when it matters most

No i mean whoever the 3rd string goalie is.. there's so few games that if the first 2 goalies have blown it the 3rd doesn't even matter, because by the time the team has cycled through 2 goalies it's already over

But fair enough

We had for the 2010 team:

Crosby
Getzlaf
Perry
Heatley
Bergeron
Iginla
Nash
Keith
Weber
Keith
Doughty
Pronger
Neidamyer
Thornton
Luongo/MAF/Brodeur

That team needed an overtime goal to win. This team is far inferior and the states team is far superior then 2010. Anyone thinking Team Canada wins this time is on drugs. In a one game winner takes all anything can happen, but if your rooting for Canada, be prepared to be dissapointed

Regarding the Jarvis selection, it's easy to see why he was named over potentially superior players like Bedard, Scheifele, etc to be the extra forward. He can seamlessly fill in for anyone that gets injured, whether top or bottom 6, and can play on the PK as well. A Bedard/Scheifele wouldn't fill in the role of a Bennett/Cirelli/Hagel if one of them went down.

Not saying it's the direction I would have gone, but not hard to see the rationale.

If we are far inferior to the U.S then it's our job to make more out of less like the U.S did in 2010.

When the U.S and Canada play..........anything can happen.

A decent amount of those players were shit on throughout the tournament lol. Let's not pretend like that team was universally loved either. Pronger and Niedermayer were called old and slow. People consistently wondered why Thornton and Marleau were on the team and the team was considered dead when they lost to USA in group play.

There's still a lot of people who don't understand the value of Parayko here. He's a very different type of defenseman than Weegar and provides a stronger defensive presence than Tanev.

No real problem with the roster.

Might be a bit overkill on the two way guys on forward, but Canada always seems to prefer winning 2-0 rather than 5-3.

They’ll need it with the goaltending mess anyways, which was always going to be an issue no matter who they took.

Would have loved to see Bedard make it for the Olympic experience, but he hasn’t deserved it with his play

The problem is having the 3 best players in the world doesn’t move the needle in hockey. Edmonton has the best 2 players in the world, how’s that working out for them?
Game 7 of the SCF losing 2-1 is bad….?

No Bouchard is the right move. Hyman would have been there if he started the year off similarly to last year but he's shit the bed after a fantastic year last year.
Without a Makar he would have 100% been there, but with the PP being Bouchards #1 ability and Makar being possibly the only better D in the world than him at it, then it’s just unfortunate for him

Huge insult to not have Bedard on the roster. Are you kidding me.
I don't understand how there's so many of these comments about bedard, have you not been paying attention to how his season's been going? He's on pace for 16 goals and 64 points, how does that make him a lock?
