Watched Winnipeg-Chicago tonight; I don’t know what they see in Adam Lowry, but apart from winning face offs he doesn’t really do anything special and had his pocket picked several times. Scheifele offers an interesting skillset and Morrisey is basically a lock.

Bedard needs to start driving play more 5v5, I’ve found his start this year pretty pedestrian compared to last year in terms of overall impact

This has got to be seen as a dress rehearsal for the olympics. If I ran Hockey Canada - and I honestly think random fans could do a better job, I would be looking at proving out my best roster for next year.

Dobson & Bouchard would get lots of action. If they take the next step to Elite defencemen the Canada's D would look alot better.

Guys like Owen Power would get a look because I can really see him breaking out in the next 16 months.

Same for Bedard and Celebrini.

The older guys like Crosby, Pietrangelo would get looks to see if they can still keep up on best on best.

This tournament is fun but I really care about the olympics.

I agree with this perspective. I do not think that Hockey Canada agrees. I'd be content for the four nations roster to be experimental and err on the side of youth.

Canada is stacked on the left side with Toews/Theodore/Morrisey, but the more and more I watch Dallas the more I think Thomas Harley needs to find a place in this team. Skates really for his size and puts out fires for Heiskanen whilst providing good first pass and offensive impact.

Would trust him more than Dobson or Bouchard to play against the opposition’s best players

He’ll be in the conversation, but as you said Canada’s Left Side is STACKED. Will be hard for him to break through. Canada ahs the luxury of leaving guys like Vince Dunn, Dougie Hamilton, Alex Pietrangelo and Aaron Ekblad off their blue lines.

Monty should be the starter, no question.

Laf deserves a serious looks at 2LW

Mark Scheifele and Mark Stone are making excellent cases for why they should be on Team Canada over the youth movement . I always love how Canadian players always play their best during the years of Olympics and in this case, 4 Nations.

Brad Marchand off to a slow start the first couple of games, but I’m sure he’ll still be a 70-80pt guy.

Connor Bedard may have had his best game yet against the Oilers

Crosby and McDavid still waiting for their 1st goals of the season

I have to say that Montreal is the premium market for average to poor goalie stats being somehow extrapolated to be good because they are on a "bad" team.

This happened with most of Carey Price's bad seasons, now this is happening with Montembeault. He is not a good goalie this season, and he was not a good goalie last season. He is a goalie that is sub .900 in his 150 games played. He has no proven pedigree, just poor to average stretches of play.

This can be said about 95%+ of Canadian goaltending. Just gotta pick the guy that can get hot. No Canadian goalie has strung together multiple good seasons since Fleury/Kuemper. Its all just a stretch here and there.

Kind of odd to compare to Price though... Sure he had off years but he was fantastic anytime he had a Maple Leaf on his chest.

Monty has had fantastic advanced analytics the past couple of seasons. I would encourage you to look them up. Is he an elite goalie? We can’t say for sure, because we haven’t seen him play in front of a competent team other than a horrible and injury-ridden Montreal defence.

I will say that he’s a good goalie and is probably on the same level of a Hill and Binnington, which is all that you can hope for if you’re Team Canada.
