The bash brothers aside I just feel these injury designations have gotten useless. Don't know why but I get frustrated by them. So an injury occurred between his belly button and his hair? 😭
Doesn’t bother me. Players have right to privacy and don’t want other teams to know where the injury is.

If it’s and issue for gamblers, tough shit

I think he needs a full offseason to recover from that knee injury. And train. Really train. This short summer didn’t help him. Maybe best thing for him is us losing early this year. But he has not skated as well since the aho hit.

You may be right, but personally, have a hard time buying an mcl remains an issue. Everyone is different and any injury is unique…but my anecdotal references personally and teammates were always pretty simple and quick recoveries with the exception of acl/mcl together.

I could see it delaying his summer workout routine a bit, and that can have you feeling behind the 8 ball, but it’s only limiting per se in that you probably can’t improve your skating much - but you shouldn’t have any issue catching up to where you had been.

Maybe it’s a bit more complicated and is lingering. Maybe it’s a mental thing rather than physical. I think it’s a small part of both, but the biggest reason he’s looked like a distant 6 at 4 nations has nothing to do with him being off…it’s how much higher the pace is there.
Im not sure how much he can improve as a skater at this point, but i would agree he needs a full, healthy summer working at it to make any noticeable progress

I think what you're referencing here is a distinction without a difference.
Of course it makes a difference. If he lost a step or NHL caught-up implies that the change is permanent. If he hasn't fully recovered from the injury - then it's temporarily (after he's able to train and rehabilitate in the offseason)

Maybe he is mentally tired ? Plus he is getting older and teams have done more scouting on his tendencies . It also must be hard playing through the coaching changes and overall team changes plus the fact that the play of Mika-CK-Panarin our forward puck movers has been all over the map and then add personal injuries and the playoff runs....it likely takes its toll on him . I won't mention Lindgren because that is one thing he actually can change if he really wanted to do so.....as simple as a trip to Lavi office . Maybe that is why we see the skyward looks much more often ? Anyways....

Will be interesting to see if a lesser US Defenseman becomes "Injured" ahead of the final.

I can't see that happening.....too much at play and the guy that they take out would be marked forever once the truth found it's way out...as it usually does after a few beers . The talk in Canada is that it would get announced after a US practice . Anyways.....I think they have enough professionals involved that it does not happen....there is lots of class involved with Team USA excluding the Tkachuk family that would not support this .

Agreed regarding injury subs but I have to think the hesitance to add additional players is something that was collectively bargained between the teams and PA. The NHL teams are taking on additional risk by allowing their best players to go play in these games that are a level above exhibitions.

2 guys who are the constant apple of rangers fans eye, Jack Hughes and Elias Pettersson, have both looked horrible this tournament. We're all hung up on Adam Fox though for some reason.
Am by no means defending Hughes play, he’s been bad. Lots of pundits pointing to his defensive game which is improved but he’s not there to play defense (same w Matthews)

But Fox who was 1st pair, PP1 at the start of G1 and was moved to third pair and off PP1 by the end has been eye opening bad. Bad passes/clearances, getting bodied every shift, and beat to almost every puck.

So if a player is injured, the team can call up another player, and the second player is remains available even after the first player returns from injury.

But if a player is injured and the team does not call up another player, they cannot call up a player unless another player is injured, even if the first player remains injured?

Crazy whats happened with McAvoy. Interesting to me that the Bruins released so much information regarding the injury. We dont usually see that but they probably wanted to curb any speculation considering its a serious thing/hospital visit.

Also some dissatisfaction from the Bruins regarding his care in Montreal at the tournament. Dr. Joel Boyd, the Team USA physician, is the Minnesota Wild’s orthopedic surgeon. Athletic trainers John Worley and Travis Green are on the Wild staff, and Kevin Morley is on the Nashville Predators’ staff.

Rumors are a botched Toradol or Cortisone injection?

Yikes. That’s Sully’s son in law too. What a mess. A shot of whisky and a cigarette would’ve done the trick of a painkiller injection back in the day.

if they are going to keep doing this with 4 teams they should scrap the round robin format and just play concurrent 'best of 3' series (ie USA v Finland and Canada v Sweden) with your opponent swapping every year.
Play back-to-back for the first 2 games and then a day off before 'the decider'. Whole things is done in a week and you can build better rivalries running it every year while not having it go stale

Eh, I'd suggest adding teams 5 and 6. Then 3-6 play each other while 1 and 2 also play each other for the top seed honors. Then the winners of 3-6 play 1-2 in the semis and then there's a final.

If the plan is to add more teams I agree, but a 4 team round robin is dumb IMO.
I assume the NHL is keen to get Russia in on this as soon as they can

He doesn’t have a summer workout routine lol.

Different knee injuries are different but the process can linger up to 2 years before 100%.

I'd like all our guys to be in the top 5%—10% stamina wise because an unrelenting motor can overcome some skills often. I look at hustle as an intangible skill.

EF said the Bruins are annoyed at the Team USA's doctors which are also the Minnesota Wild doctors. McAvoy had a significant injury suffered in the Finland game. They gave him a shot to play in the Canada game. There was an infection.

EF also said it will interesting to see how many players play for their teams this weekend and beyond.

Brooks mentioned the Rangers have so many games coming out of the 13 days off and they have 4 players playing. Thursday. Saturday afternoon 5:30. Sunday 3pm. Tuesday 7pm. Larry wanted more time for the players. They should be playing tonight.

I saw a tweet earlier today where the Jets will allow their players to rest after the tournament. Winnipeg can afford to give their players more time to recover. Hellebuyck, Connor and Morrisey.

I read Norovirus is the issue with the players. Not the flu. Zibanejad was sick.

lol I’m sorry but that was lost even on me

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tro, Mika and Fox get a day/night off somewhere over the next week. But maybe just skipping a practice or two will be enough.

Mika is under the weather but didn’t play the last game so that helps.

Fox hasn’t had his normal minutes with Team USA but will play all 4, he’ll likely get some time away from the rink in some capacity.

Kreider has only played 1 game (I’d guess he’ll go tomorrow with the injuries USA has)

Trocheck was banged up but came back to play in the last game. Maybe he gets a maintenance day or two or the first game off to rest up.

Maybe they stagger the rest across the first two games back. But I don’t think they can afford to sit all of them against Buffalo late afternoon Saturday.

They don’t have the luxury of a team atop the standings like the Jets. They need points.
