Everyone has down years.

Ovechkin had two full seasons right in the middle of his prime where he didn't score 40 goals.

I can only imagine the horrible takes if these boards existed during the season in '94...

In other news. There were multiple non-Rangers in this game where their name was mentioned later in the game and I was like, "Holy shit, they're playing?" ie Brayden Pointe, Wes Jarvis and Mitch Marner. And then you had Hughes, with all that speed, looking like a scared puppy half the time.

Also the 2027 three nations tournament is gonna be lit. Team USA will be unstoppable with the influx of new citizens from up north

Last night was amazing. This tournament has been much better than expected. I think its good for Drury as well. I think it shows how far away we are from the top players in the league speed and physicality wise. Imo opinion we don't have a top 20 player in the NHL. We really need to find a way to get 1st line forwards and a 1st pairing D.

I don’t watch a lot of hockey outside of the Rangers so it’s nice to see other guys play.
One guy I’ve been impressed with is Matt Boldy. Seems really good.

Anyways , this has been better than I expected.

You should give Hughes a break. He’s not a right winger. He’s a center and to be honest he and Matthews have no chemistry. I don’t think Jack is scared or he wouldn’t be in the NHL. Hughes is definitely not a power forward, which everyone knows. And to be fair Matthews hasn’t been that great so far. He’s the superstar star not Jack. I’d move Jack back to center, even if it’s the 4 line. And kudos to Miller for taken on that monster of a man.

One guy I’ve been impressed with is Matt Boldy. Seems really good.

Anyways , this has been better than I expected.

Boldly has definitely been a standout.

How much of this is joking and how much is serious? Because your last few posts all rag on him, while at the start of the tourney some people were slobbering for a Fox-Slavin pair. Don't know if you were clamoring for it too. So you would trot Fox out there for 20+ minutes with who, now? Because it seems like you and a couple others are complaining about the TOI distribution.

Matthews has been ass but Hughes wanted to part of the puck being his problem last night.

Threw it away the second it touched his stick almost every time the had it. I don't see how that has anything to do with what position he's playing or who he's playing with.

Torts is shorter. Im not a Torts fan but this game was fast and physical. Those things aren't Fox's specialties. Noticed Werenski is the PP guy. Fox isn't on either special team after a game one PP.

Canada will need to get it to more 4 on 4 play to defeat the US defensive system that they can't penetrate without Makar . Torts a big part of that....it has worked well for them so far .

I find it hard to believe they never selected Tom Wilson . I have to think there is bad reasoning behind the non selection . Marchand has had his day as has Doughty IMO . The loss of Makar the top Dman in the World hurt the rush game and the PP . Maybe he had the flu ? Either way it was a big factor along with Binnington .

Two good clubs....very little separating them . One mistake/bad goal makes a big difference . The 3 fights surprised me last night LOL....I did not expect that . I don't think Team USA coaches did either . Once Matthew lost his fight to Hagel....you just knew Brady would go . He is a huge boy versus Bennett who held on . Miller was fed a few fist sandwiches and got the extra two for doing so . It could have been costly penalty for Team USA .


It was a good game....as was the first game . Canada now will have their hands full with the Finns ....Maybe they should start a line brawl if they have a next game against USA since the Tkachuks opened that door and then Binnington can take Hellboy out of the game .....would be fun seeing one ....Bettman might not like it LOL . Good old fashioned hockey ! Nobody sitting down during the fights either.....imagine that !

Me too, but was equally impressed (if not more) by that guy Harley. He's huge, played a solid defensive game, physical, stood up at the blue line, didn't give anyone space, etc. What I wouldn't give to have him on our team!

Yeah, I guess. Have never been a Matthews supporter (obviously) but have added respect as he certainly can play some d. A better 2 way player than I (for sure) ever gave him credit for. I suppose many others as well.
Damn, I wanted J.T. to get that empty netter, he deserved it for playing that "psycho" part.

I just thought it was a best on best contest where you couldn't/shouldn't expect all star game level offensive fireworks. I was wrong in assuming the players wouldn't care as much about this as the Olympics. What we saw were the two best teams neutralizing each other out most of the night. Neither team was able to string 3 consecutive passes it seemed. These same Americans hung six on the Finns.

I was wrong in assuming the players wouldn't care as much about this as the Olympics. What we saw were the two best teams neutralizing each other out most of the night. Neither team was able to string 3 consecutive passes it seemed. These same Americans hung six on the Finns.

I think Canada will be very lucky to beat the Finns...especially if Binnington is playing like he has and if Makar is absent . The Finns are pesky ....and a fun club to watch in International play .

Boldy Definitely does not look out of place.


On the other hand would be nice for Connor to score a big goal in the final game. Pretty invisible out there and he has the talent to make something happen.

It definitely will change the roster selection and it will also make the Finns/Swedes stronger . It will be interesting for sure .
