Hagel, Marner, Konecny, Stone, Cirelli, Mackinnon, McDavid, Crosby, Point, Jarvis, Bennett, Tavares and Verhaege will slot ahead of him. He isn't Crosby, so they won't take a 37 year old and a soon to be 38 year old next year.

He's too old and further Johnston and Bedard will absolutely be considered.

Canada, Sweden and US are all capable if beating each other. Canada is the favorite but in one game winner take all anything can happen.

I think it depends on the selectors. On pure talent and ability Marchand is no longer in Canada's best 12 forwards. Not even close. But experience and leadership do count for quite a lot, especially in short tournaments. If the Canada selectors want him around at the Olympics as a strong presence in the locker room and are happy to have a guy who is more there for that while contributing some limited solid but probably unspectacular TOI, just maybe there's a spot for him. You do already have Crosby filling a similar role though, so it depends how much of it they want.

I think on balance he's unlikely to be picked and I probably wouldn't, but if you get selectors with a preference for wily vets that does bring him into the equation.

Maybe not, but they can't take all centers and they can't take all right-shot wingers. The fact that Canada isn't terribly strong in left-shot wingers helps Marchand's cause.

And he can play on any line really. If he's the 4th line LW that kills penalties he can do that role well whereas others can't.

So true and the fact is all the other 31 fan bases hate Marchand, but if he were on their team, they would love him! Marchy does so many things that go unnoticed, his defense is so good and breaks up plays/takes pucks away , so underrated.

If I was picking Team Canada for this tournament Tavares absolutely would have been taken over Marchand. Easily can play LW wing and having a better year than #63 and is 2 years younger. Schiefele is another player that will get more consideration in '26. Just a more impactful player than Marchand.
