I wonder how much he can make on his next contract. He's the type of player every coach and GM should adore, and with the Avs he has proven that he can also put up points next to superstar players. The cap is going to be huge in two years as well. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a chance to double his AAV, though that would be a bit shorter deal I think.
Depending upon his health, I expect a raise even considering he'll be what... 32ish? I think the doubling of salary up to 9M would require him to be healthier than he's been so far though. He only plaeyd 64 games in 22/23 and 45 last season. He's already missed 22 this season. Even with the salary going up, I'd expect the Avs would want to be taking this into consideration.
I was thinking about 9M possibility as a free agent. With the Avs, I expect the number to be lower.

Lol f***in Zamuner. Bobby Clarke is such an idiot. I dont even think Zamuner was playing all that well that season either when he was selected. Remember Iginla was playing lights out in 2002 to get the call and thank god he did. Gagne-Sakic-Iginla was a sick line in Utah.
I remember Team Canada brass legitimately debating bringing Iginla when he was arguably the best Canadian forward up to that point during the season.
From what I saw the other night Josh Manson would have been a better choice for Canada's D than anyone else in their bottom 4.
