I have always been a Jack Hughes fan, maybe because of his skating is something to watch, but he really looks lost out there.jack hughes should hit the gym

Might have been a different game with Matthew T healthy along with McEvoy. But with that these teams are so close in all aspects, which is why I wished they did a best of three for the final. Glad Canada won but the US lost one game all tournament, in OT, and they finished second. Meh.
Last night? Slavin was more impactful than Makar, dominant in his own end.Congrats to Canada, well done.
We had the best forward in the tourney ( McDavid) and the best dee in Maker, which proved to be to much for the USA to handle.
Very entertaining game.
In case you missed it there are other time zones in Canada and US. They want to max ratings, that simple.Fun tournament to watch. My complaint has nothing to do with what went on on the ice.
Start the games at 7:00pm, or even 6:30 if you want to have all kinds of pregame ceremonies.
Watching Slavin play was an unexpected treat.
He wasn't lost, he was defended against top 6 talent at F\D every shift. There was not much ice out tere. People shitting on Matthews don't seem to understand tus pretty basic concept. Who was better Hughes or Matthews? Matthews was way more impactful.I have always been a Jack Hughes fan, maybe because of his skating is something to watch, but he really looks lost out there.
Come on the kid fell down every time someone came near him, toooooo small. Kid had zero impact on any shift other than the to winner last night. He wasn't lost, he was defended against top 6 talent at F\D every shift. There was not much ice out tere. Both teams one a game against each other, People need to stop acting like this saved "Canada's" sport.Game of inches that's all. Canada got lucky usa were the better team.
Bingo, let Canada talk about splitting two game against the USA for the next 100 years. It was a good game. US coulda, maybe shoulda, won. But they didn’t. Canada capitalized on their chances and U.S. didn’t.
The difference in the result is that Canada will talk about this this for years and America will have forgotten all about it by Monday. And, even more ironically, that would’ve been the case even if U.S. had won.
I think they tend to officiate similarly as the playoffs get deeper. Just like they did in this tournament, tighter early on then relaxed when it matters most.I wish the officiating was this good in NHL games instead of all these ticky tack calls.
Would have been better with John Carlson as 3RD. Losing Quinn Hughes and in game M.Tkachuk and not taking Thompson were important losses for US. I am a USA Hockey die hard and and can tell you that Nelson, Kreider and Trocheck should not have been ahead of Thompson, for certain. Honestly Ryan Leonard would have been a better choice than Kreider. Kreider had no legs and the posts on the NYR board about Kreider having back issues look like they are true.Adam Fox is turning into Wade Redden
I did miss it. Because it started too late.Last night? Slavin was more impactful than Makar, dominant in his own end.

Very true. The reasons hockey isn’t bigger in USA still exist no matter the results of this game. As an American hockey fan I’m perfectly okay with that, I want the players to get paid more but don’t worry too much about how many people like the sport. It was a good game. US coulda, maybe shoulda, won. But they didn’t. Canada capitalized on their chances and U.S. didn’t.

Very fair post about Matthews. Sullivan replaced Eichel with Tkachuks with Matthews and they were on the ice for both US goals. Matthews lost coverage on goal but that happens in large part because Fox or Nelson iced the puck with little pressure.Sometimes watching him, made me wonder he he had a pulse. I mean its just the way he is, kind of surprised when he grabbed Marchy by the shoulder.
The ending was Its too bad, one brain huge fart, because he played a great defensive tournament except for when it mattered the most and talk about snake bitten the guy could buy a goal.
Yes, well said.Sports can be cruel. Matthews comfortably outplayed McDavid in this game. Made key plays on. the two US goals, engaged and productive all night, had multiple chances to end it in OT, while #97 struggled for impact, couldn't find his customary space, allowed a couple of bad turnovers and by his own admission was "not very good". But he got open and the puck found him at the right time, Matthews lost his man, McDavid put it in the net, and that was that. And that's what everyone will remember. Harsh, but that's the way it goes.
Fox I thought didn't have a very good tournament, and the couple of games he played against the Bruins he was brutal.Very fair post about Matthews. Too funny, if Jarvis buries his shot or goes back to Marchy it probably wouldn't of went to over time, but yea he played.Did Marchand play? He should be well rested for Saturday. Get that trade value up Brad, love time to move on like every great player.
I do not think McDavid was a beast out there at all, game winner I understand, but underwhelming in opinion.MacDavid and MacKinnon were beasts out there, best players on the ice.
Crosby and Doughty couple of old guys that can still deliver.
Marchand, Stone both way too old to be out there.
Love the blunder by Matthews to allow MacDavid to win it.
Also great to see the refs didn't destroy the game.
