It certainly isn't money when you consider that they are flying in a PA announcer from the NHL city, which is the furthest from Boston.
I talked to a senior NHL official about this and he said the Olympics don't use an organ and we are trying to emulate that. I whipped out my phone and showed him these videos from 2014 that I UPLOADED TO YOU TUBE
His response to me was one word about someone born on December 25th.
Think about this, the Russians hired TWO NHL organists
I definitely do not get giving Atlanta a 3rd chance to fail over Quebec City..Way she goes I guess.More likely, the old-hat, hokey organ doesn't fit the current "in game experience" favored by Bettman, the league office, and the greedy, witless owners -- incessant, obnoxiously loud "music" between breaks in the action, distracting, annoying dasher ads (at least for the home viewer) and, of course, ubiquitous commercial time outs.
Even better:
The "coach's challenge" and resultant, excruciatingly tedious referee consultation; endless, hair-splitting replays of a given play from every conceivable camera angle; which, not infrequently, are followed by yet more mind numbing, time wasting deliberation among officials located in "the Situation Room" at Toronto's NHL "headquarters" (I'm not making this up).
Needless to say, the former emanates from Bettman's tenure as assistant to then NBA Commissioner David Stern.
Doubtless the latter foolishness is a product of the league's NFL envy, adopting a hilariously self-serious (and impossible) quest for the elusive "perfect call."
As the NHL prepares to expand again, possibly awarding *Atlanta* a THIRD opportunity to demonstrate its complete indifference to hockey (while Quebec goes begging), perhaps it is well to reflect on the state of our sport.
Or, perhaps not.
"Please pass me that $12 (12 oz.) Bud Light.
"And the noise canceling headphones as well.
"I can only afford to go to one game a season. In the nosebleeds.
"And I'm going to enjoy it."

Probably not the best to poke the USA team.

Good on Hagel for calling the Tkachuk’s out.
I think you are the one that has it right.Friedman says Hughes can't play without someone else getting hurt.
It was not at all the same for Canada after they cleared Harley to play regardless of Makar's availability. It was the same for Canada, Theodore got hurt, so they had to put the 7th D Sanheim in to replace him, they could only play Thomas when Makar was not available, he could not even practice at the same time Makar was on the ice. I think the rules are stupid and they should have allowed for bigger rosters.
So they won’t have to have an inThe way I understood the rules, it has to be a D for D , forward for forward, if they are short forwards, they could add someone like Thompson, Robertson, Caufield or Keller?
nothing he said wasn’t trueProbably not the best to poke the USA team.
But if it brings us some fun hockey like the first game against eachother? I say bring it on!
Good on Hagel for calling the Tkachuk’s out.
Well why would he care reallyreally nice watching Pasta in the interview saying he couldn't care less who wins the 4 nation thing, and that his focus is on the remaining games for the Bruins, that is the answer I was hoping for
Nice avatar! This game is Thursday? Hell that's a long break for the NHL.
Good on Hagel for calling the Tkachuk’s out.
Who give a shit what Hagel has to say. I hope it happens againWe agree to disagree.
I loved it. Every second of it. I like those two. Sorry not sorry.
I haven't heard anyone but Hagel insinuate that the fights, which were of course planned via text by the bros & JT, were "staged" for the cameras.
My understanding is that MT of FLA doesn't care for Hagel of TB. Hence, he "wanted a piece of him."
I have zero problem with that.
Good on 'em.
yeah, not having Russia and Czech in this tournament really makes it lameI’ve got an idea for expanding this tournament in 2026/2027. The season after the Olympics.
Start an 8 team Tourney in September, set up in a way that 4 teams get eliminated and 4 move on.
Then use February for the semi-finals and championship game.
In the past, IIRC they did some Canada Cups in September, and obviously they’re using February for this tourney now.
This set up allows the top 8 countries to be included, but doesn’t require 3 weeks in the middle of the season.
Idiot brothers will be targeted at the source of their injuries' but it will fuel them more then one or both will take unnecessary penalties and/or get injured doing reckless shit ..they can't help themselves. I actually thought Hagel handled himself well for a non fighter ...hope he doesn't think he's a tough guy now or things could go very wrong for him lolGood on Hagel for calling the Tkachuk’s out.
I like a good fight if its the heat of the moment, response to a hit that is questionable, but don’t like prefabricated ones .Although I have to admit with the helmets and visors,I’m liking them less and less, ends up being to guys beating the crap out f each other’s helmets and visors. Actually makes me very nervous during NHL games when Bruins top players get into a fight.Who give a shit what Hagel has to say. I hope it happens again
Idiot brothers ? I wish we had players like that, guys that want to win regardless of who cares what people think of them.Idiot brothers will be targeted at the source of their injuries' but it will fuel them more then one or both will take unnecessary penalties and/or get injured doing reckless shit ..they can't help themselves. Its part of the game and when its not good bye NHL, it will be as popular in the U.S. as Woman's pro hockey, and no disrespect to Woman's hockeyI like a good fight if its the heat of the moment, response to a hit that is questionable, but don’t like prefabricated ones .Although I have to admit with the helmets and visors,I’m liking them less and less, ends up being to guys beating the crap out f each other’s helmets and visors.
