Yea, it's not even something that should be debated long as not breaking rules..McAvoy played great vs Canada and hammered McDavid a couple times.Good bet Hughes don't do that .You need different styles in the group so the USA would definitely be losing their most physical D man here which would still hurt.

At least with Hughes, he was named to the team and declined as close to the last minute as possible. The reports were that he was absolutely gutted to have to make the decision. I'm glad he was their top choice but sad that it is because Mac can't play.

I think I am going to just wait till Thursday to see who is on the ice because I have saw some conflicting reports already. That said, I want the best players available on the ice for both teams

If there's one thing I know as an American hockey fan it's that there's simply no way the US can beat Canada in an awesome early round game only to lose in the title game. It simply would never happen.

Canada got the exemption for Harley because they lost Theodore in the opener, then lost Makar for a game. They legit wouldn't be able to ice a full defense without it.

McAvoy getting hurt only elevates Sanderson which leaves them still with a full 6. Hughes can travel with the team but he can't dress/play unless someone else gets hurt between now and thursday.

...Wouldn't be shocked if Sanderson mysteriously came down with the flu in the next 48 hours.

It's mostly in jest but would you really be shocked if Sanderson, the guy who was a reserve anyway would get shuffled out of the lineup for a guy who is the presumptive favorite for the Norris Trophy?

Unless Hughes can barely walk/skate, i feel like the US would be doing themselves a disservice not trying to get him back into the lineup.

I am cheering for Canada and would love to see the Tkachuk brothers and Matthews get nailed hard, same as when the Bruins play against Florida and Toronto or when we play Washington and Montreal, love to see Ovechkin and Caufield hit hard, because I don't like them as players. All that being said, even if they do get hit, the only thing about them I want to see hurt is their pride, I will never wish injury on any player no matter how much I may dislike them. Here's hoping for a good hard clean game.

I would say it's worse. Steven's played 6 more seasons in the NHL after getting traded out of Boston. Zero chance Elias Lindholm lasts in the NHL six more seasons until the end of his contract. He looks cooked some nights now, what is he going to look like a half-decade from now? Garbage signing just like I predicted.

Just be around if he has a good year next session.

And I look at the list of guys still playing in the league today age 35 and older and Lindholm has no chance. Then factor in that number of age 35+ players is getting shorter every single year.

Another buy-out in the Bruins future. Or another 1st rounder sent out of town to take on Lindholm's albatross contract.

The way I understood the rules, it has to be a D for D , forward for forward, if they are short forwards, they could add someone like Thompson, Robertson, Caufield or Keller?
