Didn't get a chance to respond to this before the previous thread got closed.

Physicality, sure. But that is not the same as fighting. Did anyone in the hockey world expect this US squad NOT to bring a physical game? That was always going to be the way they played, whether the fights happened or not. Sure, a fight can give a team (maybe both teams, though) an adrenaline boost for a short time afterwards, but I really don't think it sustains over the course of a game or even through a period. By the end of the first period, the fights at the 9-second mark were ancient history in in-game time. Saying that these scraps set the tone for the game is a reach.

Also, did I miss something or did both of the Tkachuk bros not have much of an impact on the game after that? Looked like Matthew had an injury later on, but certainly neither he nor Brady were as much of factor on the scoresheet as they were against Finland.

Last night's game was probably the best head to head matchup played on ice I've watched live. I'm excited for the regular season to return but it might not be as fun to watch when every player isn't one of the best at their position.

This year's Bruin games are loaded with stoppages for stick slashing, tripping, hooking and holding penalties against us (this sucks because our PK is terrible). Meanwhile everyone out there last night was flying. There was no need for any of that. It is the way the game is supposed to be played.

He earned it. Did you see him stay out on the ice after the first period slashing and/or cross checking any Canadian player he could skate by? He's a piece of work and he's lucky Zack Kassian wasn't on their team.

Some people must have watched a different game than me last night if they think the US dominated. I thought that was a damn close game until the empty netter. I thought Canada hit back as good as they took.
Binnington is a pretty bad goalie, but if Makar is healthy in the finals, assuming they make it of course, that’s a potential difference maker.

Agreed, I said to my wife about 1/2 way thru the 3rd, when Canada was carrying the play, that in a game like that with all the talent out there, there are like 10 guys on Canada alone who can turn a broken play/turnover into a goal, all by themselves.

Agreed, I said to my wife about 1/2 way thru the 3rd, when Canada was carrying the plaY, that in a game like that with all the talent out there, there are like 10 guys on Canada alone who can turn a broken play/turnover into a goal, all by themselves.

I didn’t breath easy until the ENG.

I’ve seen a couple of early reports about the possibility of a giant storm hitting Boston on Thursday.

If that happens and there is a good soul out there that has tickets but doesn’t want to brave the elements, and would be okay with taking $50-$75 above face value for their seats, send me a message.

I’m definitely not paying the $600+ for last row balcony that I’m seeing on ticket broker apps.

Crosby and Marchand have played really well together in the past.

As an American, I’m glad he didn’t do that….as a Brad fan, I wish he did.

If Fenway is right about the Bruins hiring Mike Sullivan if the US wins this tournament then I'm ok with them winning ...although I thought he just signed an extension with the Penguins not too long ago

I'll always cheer for Canada, but I really don't think they can win with Binnington in net

As an American, I’m glad he didn’t do that….as a Brad fan, I wish he did.

Schiefele not being on this team is a massive head scratcher, and let’s all admit the only reason Hagel and Cirelli are there is because Cooper is the coach. Main issues for this team is the bottom 6 and goaltending. Binnington has given up some softies. You can say whatever you want about the turnover but every goalie should’ve stopped that shot on the first goal. It just cannot go in in a big game like that

There are some suspiciously Bruins-esque faults with the Canadian roster. I wonder why?

But a team with that much top end star power can never be written off. Even if they end up winning the tourney though, if Canada are smart they'll use this week to re-think their strategy for the Olympics. A few tweaks should be in order.

You can second-guess just about every roster in this tournament, TBH. But you'd be splitting hairs. I'm still scratching my head about Tage Thompson not being on the US roster. There are plenty of guys you can make an argument for being there.

End of they day, all of these teams have good enough rosters to win this tournament.

Exactly, but the omission of Thompson for the Canadiens is eye popping do to the reported rift between he and Cassidy. The players are willing to move on, when playing for your Country you’d think a coach could.
