Agreed, I said to my wife about 1/2 way thru the 3rd, when Canada was carrying the play, that in a game like that with all the talent out there, there are like 10 guys on Canada alone who can turn a broken play/turnover into a goal, all by themselves.

I didn’t breath easy until the ENG.

He seems to struggle a bit with the definition of the word: “organically”.

Lol
This is after JT Miller admitted they planned the fights via text post game. At least get your story straight.

There are some suspiciously Bruins-esque faults with the Canadian roster. I wonder why?

But a team with that much top end star power can never be written off. Even if they end up winning the tourney though, if Canada are smart they'll use this week to re-think their strategy for the Olympics. A few tweaks should be in order.
I wish they had a few more grinders out there. US defense was exceptional last night in their own end. Dump the puck in and hit them, but that’s not the team Canada built. Still it’s two very very good teams and the right team won last night. Hope Canada gets another shot at them. I’m actually suprised it’s this good of hockey. I thought this would be a bunch of glorified all star games.

If Tom Wilson was there, the D men would be looking over shoulder bigtime. He has 42 pts in 55 games ,,24 goals..Sweeney dropped ball bigtime not taking him if u ask me.The man can wreck people .And I am no Wilson fan either for record, but it's the truth.

A team Canada victory in regulation ensures a Canada US final. That is going to happen. It has to.
Should be amazing…. Of course it starts with tomorrow and that game against Finland.

You can second-guess just about every roster in this tournament, TBH. But you'd be splitting hairs. I'm still scratching my head about Tage Thompson not being on the US roster. There are plenty of guys you can make an argument for being there.

End of they day, all of these teams have good enough rosters to win this tournament.

To me it's less about picking this or that player and more about a few aspects of how the Canada roster has been put together.

But yes I agree, all these rosters are good enough on their day, and in a short tourney like this a lot of it really comes down to luck and which guys just happen to deliver big performances at the right time.

I stand by my main point though - regardless of the final outcome, this week should give Canada some food for thought regarding their Olympic plans. Can say the same for the other countries too of course, just with Canada it feels like there's a bit more there to chew over.

If Canada loses tomorrow, Don Sweeney and Jon Cooper will be banned from Canada and Tom Wilson will be their first selection for the 2026 Olympics.:sarcasm:

None will be actual fact of course, but I wouldn’t think Sweeney would ever be part of putting a team Canada team together again and Wilson would be a member of Canada for the Olympics.

Exactly. One or two more guys is all they needed.

What I've discovered this tournament. so far ...
1. It created surprisingly good intense hockey
2. Tkachuck brothers are 24/7 idiots ...good hockey playesr but truly dumb and dumber in real life
3. Canada needs to figure out how to develop better goaltenders ...used to be Quebec's foray but we need a national program
4. Charlie M. can play at a star level but needs external big stage motivation...regular season pressure makes him somewhat regular
5. Brad is an excellent leader and spokesperson on any stage including this stage
6. It's no fun cheering against people on this board....it just feels off

There are many more items I could add ..feel free

It really shouldn't though. We are all from different places and we root for different teams. We can agree to disagree for 3hrs every time the US plays Canada. I don't take it personal and neither should you. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna bust your nuts if Canada loses......and I'd expect the same if the US loses to Canada on Thursday. That's what makes sports amongst friends fun, IMHO.

I've spent a lot of time working in Canada and have a lot of Canadian friends that I consider life-long. Hell, some of them are Habs and Leafs fans. I'd do anything for them if they asked me, and I'm 99% sure they'd do the same. However we've agreed to mutually, and intensely, dislike each other for 3hrs every time our teams play each other, and we've each agreed to take shit from the other when our teams lose...My best friend Dimitri took me to a Bs-Habs game at the Bell Centre back in 2015 and the Bruins lost 5-1. I ate a TON of shit that night, but it was one of the most fun nights I've ever had at a hockey game in my entire life.

Its a f***ing game. Not life and death. I sometimes temporarily forget that in the heat of the moment, and I hope you'll give me some grace with that. I'll do the same with you. Deal?

That said....I hope Finland beats you guys 32-1 tomorrow.;)

Canada-USA's Impressive Ratings Show NHL Struck Gold With 4 Nations Face-Off — Sports Illustrated

Saturday night's intense 4-Nations Face-Off clash between Canada and the United States was must-watch TV.

It was the first time in over a decade that the two bordering nations battled in a best-on-best clash, and it absolutely did not disappoint. That much was evidenced not only by the overwhelmingly positive reactions to the game across social media, but the TV ratings, too.

Nielson's first national data indicates that the showdown between Canada and the USA at the Bell Centre in Montreal was the most-watched non-Stanley Cup Final hockey telecast since 2019, having garnered an average of 4.4 million viewers and a peak of 5.2 million on ABC, per Alex M. Silverman of Sports Business Journal.

It's not only the USA-Canada showdown that drew massive ratings, either. The Canada-Sweden game and the USA-Finland matchup drew 4.1 million and 3.4 million viewers, respectively, both vastly exceeding the league's expectations heading into the four-team tournament, per The Athletic.

Those are some huge figures for the NHL, which has struggled to make strides when it comes to ratings for its regular season games this year. A recent clash between the San Jose Sharks and Seattle Kraken on ESPN drew just 175,000 viewers, and a TNT showdown between the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils had just 253,000 average viewers. Both games were outdrawn by the East-West Shrine Bowl on ESPN.

Despite some lackluster results in the regular season, it's clear that fans are tuning in and loving the 4-Nations Face-Off, which has ultimately been a smashing success thus far. The league will hope those ratings persist when the tournament resumes on Monday.
