My biggest question is why Marchand has been so quiet on the pest side of things. I notice Bennett being greasy, but not much from Marchand.

You're not creating much, you have to be our physicality answer to the tkachuk bros
Because he is creating things offensive. I always notice him offensively, every time he's on the ice. Might be because he and Konecny are good and skilled, but Bennett is just kinda there.

I dont think he's been "dangerous". Ive generally thought he was okay to good offensively but invisible when it comes to his "intangibles". I want to see more of that. We need it.

Sure, they need more talent though through the line up. Cirelli has been invisible and Bennett has thrown some hits, but is over his head by a bunch. Put Stone (because he's looked really slow) with Bennett and Cirelli as the 4th line, then run the other ones together and the team will be alot more effective 5 on 5.

Marchand has absolutely been creating offensive chances, he's just not found finish, but I will agree him not being more of a rat is odd, but I chalk it up to ice time limitations.

And tkachuk played so hard they took themselves out of the game against Sweden and possibly the final. Charlie mcavoy played some hard he hurt himself and will miss the final.

Marchand is pacing himself and still playing well enough to justify his ice time.

They'll all play Thursday.

They bullied us pretty hard, especially brady. Dont think its crazy to ask for Marchand to do some bullying back, considering its a huge part of his game.

Things went about as well as they could in the US/Sweden tilt. Didn't really care about the result but was hoping there might be some (unfortunate) things happen (injuries). Now McAvoy is out, and the Bobsey Twins are banged up. Austin Matthews is uncertain to play (big surprise). It's all fine and dandy to play the rough and tumble game, but we'll see how enthusiastic and effective some of their guys are when they're carrying injuries into the corner.

Marchand is more of a pest, really don't think of him as a bully, unless it's related to popping one of the Sedins relentlessly back in 2011.;)

The downside to playing the way the USA didn’t against Canada on Saturday is you can injure yourself just easily as the other team and it’s why teams don’t play this way every game. It can’t be kept up for long. It could affect the finals, and if it does it’s a failure on the US coaching.

US really trying to setup the "we were screwed angle" with this desperate attempt to parachute in Quinn Hughes. Then Daly says, like Harley, he can't play unless they dip below 6 healthy defenders. I wouldn't be surprised if Sanderson gets the "flu" before Thursdays game.

It's a failure on US coaching to let the 3 meat heads do what they want. A group text? Did it include any other players or Sully / Torts?

Where did the 'Americans are built for this (physical) come from? I thought they were built on speed and goaltending

Sounds like Hughes will probably be in. I know he's a talented guy, but this might not be a nail in the coffin that some seem to think. We have noticed with each game, teams getting crisper and more chemistry. Maybe taking out a guy that has been there the whole time, for a guy who hasn't played in 3 weeks will be more harmful than helpful, even if he is a Norris level Dman.

On a side note does anyone know why the Czechs and Slovaks didn’t put teams in? I thought one of, if not both countries would have but I didn’t pay much attention to the country selection when this thing was announced.

IIRC it was only NHL players, so they didn't have enough players.

I think 5 countries (teams) would have thrown off the balance. Though a team Europe(not Russia) would have been interesting, because there's some big stars not playing in this.

Its an NHL event, not an IIHF. NHl players must play and no IIHF players can, because its not IIHF sanctioned and those teams you mentioned dont have enough players to make teams out of NHL players. Finland barely had enough to ice a full roster.

Thats all there is to the tournament, its an NHL ALL STAR game replacement not a World Championship or Olympic replacement.

100%

If you can't handle the physical play ( getting hurt being physical shows that you can't) kind of speaks for itself doesn't it?
