Yes, used to work in my Dad's hardware store and ten bucks was considered an average price for a stick. If you are a struggling family today, how can you risk your kid breaking a 400 buck stick every month?
Buy 20 dollar sticks. You don’t need an expensive stick to learn how to shoot.

Still a very winnable tourney for Canada. A change to Hill, adding Makar and Cooper properly tweaking the lines should make a big difference, US seems a tad bit over confident as well, like they've already won the tourney.
There is heavy traffic being decoded from MS messenger right now and they seem to think they have this in the bag.

You want an athlete? Your kid should play all sports.
Agreed. Early specialization in one sport can be super detrimental to an athlete's progression and should be avoided. LTAD is pretty clear on this.

Hockey Canada needs an overhaul pronto. Get some analytics nerds on board to help select the team, but we need a real leader for the next 10 years, it’s not just about the selection process.

Hockey Canada was amazing but I guess they got too high on their own fumes and started covering up some really nasty crimes.. we need a total overhaul now.

Part of the big picture is we need to develop goalies again.

But man I’d trust most fans to select the team over these guys, not even kidding.

Also these coaches are having too much fun, I bet they spent more time patting each other on the back and yucking it up than getting to work. They’re all accomplished but this isn’t a social club, I think I might rather have someone with hunger and something to prove.
This was a NHL event. I doubt HC had any involvement other than buy jerseys. Same with IIHF

Great news. Scratch Sanheim and play Harley. I believe Binnington suddenly just came down with a virus, so call up Thompson. ;

But the point the other poster was making was that some sports are beyond the financial reach of some families.
Depends how you play them. Kids don’t benefit from parents pouring money on a sport. They benefit by talking and playing with those who know how to play.

McDavid had it going last night, needs to shoot it.

Perhaps for U9 and under. But there is a significant difference in performance. But there is absolutely no reason to spend $400, plenty of really good comp sticks for around $200.

Man even $200 is a lot of $$ for sticks. Rich mans game now. Kind of like golf. I like going golfing at least 2-3 times a week.

Performance comes from play selection.

Was actually buying my little girl some skates last night went to the shop I bought all my hockey stuff as a kid. Talking with the owner. He said the sport has really slowed down and says it's just to much for most people to play now. That's sad to think. But also goes to show why sports like basket ball soccer and even baseball are so popular when they are so cheap cheap to play
Not sure if I buy this..
Minor hockey associations are thriving with hundreds of U7-U18 teams just in Edmonton. Hockey schools are full and it's literally impossible to crack tier 1 , let alone AA and AAA teams. Then there is HSL and other parallel leagues and hockey schools that are always full. Now we have the whole female hockey side picking up steam.

People may be buying used equipments more now slowing down his business. Spots like pro hockey life is probably hurting small businesses too

Team Canada has looked alarmingly like the Oilers.

McDavid must be dying inside.
He overpassed so he can just blame himself.
Hopefully someone on this team had the balls to call him out .

I think the numbers show that penalties decrease as the series progresses as well. More calls in Games 1-4 than 5-7. Refs don't want to be the one to decide who progresses
I know that’s the theory. Refs don’t want to be the deciding factor etc. But, what they don’t seem to understand is that putting the whistle away and letting teams cheat also decides a lot of games. Usually in the less skilled teams favour.

Honestly though. A team with McDavid, Mackinnon, Point, Crosby, Makar, Reinhart, Marner should not be at 4 goals
In regulation after 2 games and be shutout for nearly 3 periods at any point.

People keep blaming the goaltending, but Canadas bread and butter is supposed to be thier offense. This has been non existent. Find ways to score. Score often, pick corners, make it happen. Stop making this a goaltending excuse. That was never our strenght to begin with.

I'm off today. Excellent. Can watch the game

Im good with it. He let in a. Complete stinker but the reason we lost. Only myself could shut out the USA. And if they aren't starting me, might as well go with binnington
They're idiots, straight up. To not start a man with your flexibility is baffling. Too bad Gary is corrupt or we'd never lose another game.
