Even though my 'exposure' to him has been fairly limited (some international tournaments, a few NY Islanders games) and I wouldn't be the first one to laud his hockey skills, I still think Gillies was an exceptional player in his own way; size, strength, clutch performing (sometimes even without Trottier and Bossy)...

The Town Fun Forgot
I remember Jean Potvin making sure no one took liberties with his 14 year old brother playing for the Ottawa 67s. The Potvin brothers went on to be the only pair of brothers to finish 1-2 in defenseman scoring in an NHL season. Denis finished with 98 points and Jean with 72 in 1975-76. Watching the Potvin brothers play Junior hockey was a huge highlight for me. RIP Jean.

During his high scoring era Bossy was the best goal scorer in the NHL. Period. Rest in Peace, Mike.

Bossy one of the best pure goal scorers in the NHL. How many goals does he score if he does not injure his back

If Bossy’s back didn’t let up, it’s conceivable that Gretzky would’ve ended up chasing Bossy (after Howe) for the all-time goals record.

Very sad news about his passing.
