I was amused to see a familiar face as the #1 scorer in the Slovak league so far this season, and it isn't who you would expect...

Olivier Archambault - 13 points in 6 games

That's the "I played for Sylvain Lefebvre" face.
He also came up and played for Therrien for 13 games. No celebrations allowed.

I remember how hopeful we were when Dietz, Ellis, Lernout, Hudon and Carr (amongst others) all got minutes due to injuries and looked decent and then none ever cracked the NHL. Christian Thomas also got a huge number of chances for no good reason (I'm assuming Bergy was team mates or friends with his dad) and couldn't produce. Which wasn't surprising because he couldn't even produce in the AHL.

Carr ended up leading the AHL in scoring with 71 points in 50 games and is now roughly a point-per-game in the Swiss League, for those who are interested in how strong the Swiss league is and the level of competition Reinbacher faces.

Former Habs 1st pairing D with Weber, part of the "improved D" Bergevin alluded to after losing Markov, signs to play in Allsvenskan (Sweden's 2nd division)

Fairbrother was assigned to Utah Grizzlies, Avalanche's ECHL affiliate a few days ago. He's missed a lot of time to injuries, so it's possible they sent him down to play a lot and maybe called up to their AHL affiliate.

Speaking of their AHL affiliate, they've played 3 games so far and Stapley hasn't played any games yet. Not sure if injured or scratched.

To be fair there have always been some random great numbers. Darren Dietz was the best dman there for a couple years. I'm just going to come out and say that the KHL probably has less strict drug testing and a lot of these wouldbe AHLers juice which is why they suddenly become godlike for 1 or 2 years then back to scrubs. That and the larger ice gives them more time to make decisions; which is the difference between the AHL and NHL are those few seconds of thinking.

KHL has many NHL-sized rink. They have a program since 2019 to standardize rink sizes towards NHL rink size standard, leaguewide. Even before that, they already had a few NHL-sized rinks. Rink size has always varied in the KHL. They even had a rink smaller than the NHL.

Former Habs Mike Johnson, who scored 31 points for the team in 2006-07, has been elected speaker of the house of representatives in congress. He is now third in line to the Presidency.

:skeptic: Not sure if you’re serious or not but…

…if you are, that’s not him. The former player is a color analyst for TSN.

…if you aren’t, sorry for ruining your joke :s

He did sign a 2 year contract worth a third of his career earnings after his MTL stint.
He was a great D as long as his TOI was under 14 minutes a night. Above that and fatigue just made him awful. It probably got worst as he got older (he's 36 now).

Incidentally you should see the "Dwight Howard / Stephen Harper" news
It's not habs related but this definitely made me think of it lol

He was already pretty done after his habs stint. Vancouver did not get bang for their bucks.

Would be nice to have that Lehkonen for Barron thread still going - the one where many were posting how badly Hughes got fleeced, 4 games into Barron's 21 year old season.
