Hello my friends,

I could not find this info anywhere I guess since it was so long ago.

But did Getzlaf and Perry start on the same line their debut year? If so, was there a concern playing two rookies with each other?

12:35 min a game for Getzlaf
11:34 min a game for Perry
They did and I don’t remember any concern because the team was full of veterans and they adjusted fine, Getz before Perry. They played with Fedoruk, and to a lesser extent Penner and Marchant.

He points to his days in Anaheim last season when rookies Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry were happy to have him around.

"Having that tough guy really helps out the young guys on the team," said Fedoruk. "Being in Anaheim, that was a really young team and I played with Getzlaf and Perry and they were really appreciative of the comfort level they feel. Because if they don't feel comfortable, they can't play their game. And I think that's what the tough guys bring."

According to this OC Register, Tough Fedoruk easy choice
(has paywall), Feds also played top line along with Selanne and McD
So he helped both the vets and the rookies for the season

Gawd, do I miss this team

He could skate, which made him unusual for an enforcer, and he had ok hands. He scored 100 points in 550 career games and 23 of his points came in just that one season with Getz and Pears, by far a career high for him.

Getzlaf interviewed in the last Missing Curfew podcast. He said he likes to be part of building a championship team. I haven't listened to this fully yet, just bits and pieces here a there. But interpret that as he's going to pursue a front office gig in the NHL. He also mentioned that "the Ducks stuff wasn't really working the way they wanted" so he joined Parros in DoPS. I wonder what wasn't working out? Don't think there's a huge drama there but maybe Getzy wanted a bigger role than PV was willing to give, just speculating. Not sure if there's something there between them, but I guess I'm not expecting Getzy to join the Ducks org next.
*If* Verbeek was any part of the reason, f*** that guy so hard. Not that we’ll ever know.
