I really think the Daboll choice to go for 2 was a no brainer.

You are a new coach, first game with a new team who hasnt had a decent start in over decade. You go for it to show the trust in your team and reward the effort they put in during the summer. You show the team, fanbase and management you want to change the culture by being aggressive. Hell, you had a shitty first half and I dont think anyone wouldve expected a chance to tie it let alone win it the way it was going.

If you lose, well, you set the mentality that its the players game and they'll appreciate that. They want the chance to be the difference makers out there. The kicker may have well missed the EP, again.

100%

Like @Uninstaaled said, whether they converted or not, I loved the decision to go for it. Firstly it tells the team “I trust you to win this game”.

Secondly it shows the coach can crunch the odds and realize they had a better chance gaining 2 yards than they would holding the Titans till OT and relying on a coin toss from there.

Huge gamble by Daboll, but it just goes to show the difference in ideology between him and the previous HC.

Judge coached scared and gutless. Daboll gave the team a chance to actually win. Post above was spot on. Just tying the game wasn't enough. And even so, it still took a missed FG to secure the win.

Edit: and who knows if Daboll will actually be a good HC, but those kinds of decisions have a way of endearing yourself to your players. The heat gets put 100% on Daboll if they fail there. But he pulled the trigger to reward his players and give them a chance to win the game. The Shep/Quads reaction says all you need to know.

Big Balls Daboll

Holy Shit!!!

And our coach has major balls

He finally is playing as I have screamed he should - with decisiveness.

He's taking the first hole and just booking it.

He's lowering his shoulder and initiating contact.

He's NOT stopping behind the line of scrimmage at all.

This was what Barkley should be. It took him four seasons to get there (and the idiots at Penn State never bothered to actually coach him as a RB). But he may finally be there.

The players are going to LOVE playing for him. You can see it. He went over to Jones at one point on the sidelines and was letting him have it - but you could tell he then said a bunch of encouraging things to him after giving him some tough love.

Really infectious personality. The culture change that Schoen and Daboll seem to be bringing is just huge for this old fuddy-duddy team.
DaBoll played a huge role in Josh Allen’s development. There were a lot of tough love moments the first couple of years, but it ultimately paid off.

Like Belidickhead said, DaBoll is an all purpose coach. He can be a DC, OC, and as we saw yesterday, a HC. Love that you guys got the Win yesterday, especially considering who you beat.

Basically all of the math shows that going for the 2 point conversion there was the wrong decision. Being aggressive for the sake of being aggressive isn't a good thing. However, it's probably better long term if he errs on that side rather than being conservative like everyone ele.

For many years I heard you go for it on the road and play it safe at home. Worst case scenario is if the Giants failed the 2 pt conversion you onside kick and have 3 times outs (I think) to try to get the ball back and kick a field goal.

I don't think clichés are included in advanced modeling.

That and the way Saquon was playing if you get the ball in his hands he's always going to have a better than 50-50 shot to get two yards.

The Jets will not be competitive until the Johnsons sell. They are the Wilpons of the NFL.
QFT. The Jets badly need an owner who gives a damn, and will not stand for the continued years of incompetence.

The last game, the defense actually played really well, and did all they could until they were out of gas from being on the field so much. The offense...total garbage. Getting real tired of all the pomp and circumstance and talk only to land at #32 in the power rankings...

I'm not a Jets fan but I do think their talent is better than showing on the field so far. Even if you have your starting QB you need to have a line that can block. Injuries play a big role. Thought they had a really good draft.

Jets too but we don’t even have a superbowl to look back on fondly
Joe Willie, the original Mr. White Shoes, MVP of SBIII, says hi.
although I concede yr pt it's been too long since then

Joe Flacco looked like he was moving in slow motion. He cannot be out there next week, he shouldn't have been on the field after the first half.

Just play Mike White. Also everyone can stop talking about Flacco leading them to wins and not letting Wilson play. I wouldn't mind if Flacco pulled a Vontae Davis and just retires mid game.

Defense looks like it can be very good. Got good pressure on Lamar Jackson. Linebackers were solid. Safety play was rough after the first half.
1. Flacco has lost a step but he can handle the blitz IF IF F there is sufficiently decent OL, which is not the case here. One silver lining is Flacco is saving Wilson from getting a beat down.

2. Cut Flacco/deal for a late pick. White is NOT the answer.
I understand the kid who played so well each preseason game for us, Stretcher, or whatev, THAT IS THE GUY who should be Wilson's backup. White is ok for emergency 3rd string injury reserve, like dat.

3. We need effective Ts, and until that happens, we are effed.

I am not sure who is available that would be a worthwhile upgrade [a geezer is fine as a stopgap, but careful sending youth for a stopgap], and I'm not sure who we can send.

Berrios is fine as a reserve and returner, and Carter has been decent. But if we could package them with a decent pick for a good T, that's the ticket, give the guy we drafted 2nd round starter mins at RB.

Fant improved toward the end of last season, but he still sucks big time.
Could he be repurposed as a G? Possibly.
But we need a stud OT, preferably two.

Can you show this? I am curious to see how that conclusion was reached
