What a game by Barkley
He finally is playing as I have screamed he should - with decisiveness.

He's taking the first hole and just booking it.

He's lowering his shoulder and initiating contact.

He's NOT stopping behind the line of scrimmage at all.

This was what Barkley should be. It took him four seasons to get there (and the idiots at Penn State never bothered to actually coach him as a RB). But he may finally be there.

Holy Shit!!!

And our coach has major balls

The players are going to LOVE playing for him. You can see it. He went over to Jones at one point on the sidelines and was letting him have it - but you could tell he then said a bunch of encouraging things to him after giving him some tough love.

Really infectious personality. The culture change that Schoen and Daboll seem to be bringing is just huge for this old fuddy-duddy team.

He f***ed up his knee in the preseason. Then literally a week ago they were saying he was a possibility for the opener, only to come back days 12 hours later and say he'd be out until week four. Usual clown shit with the Jets.
FTFY.

And the coaches at PSU were dogshit and never bothered to teach him how to play football.

Then the Giants did the same f***ing thing and just tried to let him run fast without learning the actual game.

Daboll and crew are finally teaching the guy something. It's abundantly clear.

Players already love Daboll.

“I grabbed a couple of defensive players that have busted their tails out there, along with some of the offensive guys that went out there. And I said, Hey, we got the ball wherever it was. I said we score I’m going for two, you guys good with that? They said, eff, yeah.”

The players loved it. Appreciated it. Supported it. Definitely gave it an ‘eff, yeah.”

I honestly wouldn’t have given a f*** if they failed on the 2 point attempt. That vote of confidence is going to pay dividends for this team moving forward. It’s one thing to say that you believe in your guys, it’s another thing to actually do what he did today. I still expect the team to be pretty bad this year and Daboll obviously still has a lot to prove, but he’s already won his players over after week 1.

And more importantly, he’s won me over after week 1 lmao. Like who wouldn’t want to play that guy?

Semi off topic but since you mentioned it…

Not a whole lot of people on the planet who I have less love for than James Franklin. I’ll leave it at that.

He also is a terrible coach.

The Bengals are back to being the Bungles....50 seconds left in OT, 4th & 16, clock running, the punter decides to snap the ball with 15 seconds still on the play clock. Steelers, no timeouts, get in FG range with 8 seconds left & spike the ball. Kicker nails a 52 yarder as time expires. Idiots.

It's amazing to me how many coaches attended the Jason Garrett school of clock management. If it's not your strong suit, hire a game management coach for f*** sake. They have 30 assistants on staff, but nobody thought to add a clock management guru.

The Butt Fumble was the high point.
This is the only thing my wife knows about football. 11 years of ranting and raving and that's what has stuck in her mind.

Joe Flacco looked like he was moving in slow motion. He cannot be out there next week, he shouldn't have been on the field after the first half.

Just play Mike White. Also everyone can stop talking about Flacco leading them to wins and not letting Wilson play. I wouldn't mind if Flacco pulled a Vontae Davis and just retires mid game.

Defense looks like it can be very good. Got good pressure on Lamar Jackson. Linebackers were solid. Safety play was rough after the first half.

Huge Giants win.

Win or lose that move by Daboll was galvanizing to the team, but to pull it the W really puts on a stamp on a solid spring and summer, despite the injury issues. It's just one win, but that was so important for the morale of this club and the fanbase going forward. They were on the road against a very good team and they didnt pack up and quit after a rough first half. When things ultimately get rough again, they can fall back on this performance.

Barkley had a monster game. He was running through guys and trusting his line instead of trying to over-juke before the second level. That cut move and power he showed to get into the endzone on that two point conversion was pure skill and a show of will by a guy you can tell is totally out to prove the doubters wrong. I hope it continues for him and the team, because they will need him to play that way to get more wins.

But lets be clear about something, Jones had a few decent moments with his legs and the long bomb when he had great protection, but under duress this guy's physical and mental weaknesses are totally exposed. He has a very long throwing motion and that's when he actually gets to the point where he decides to pull the trigger.

Kafta really needs to work with him to cut down his release time and if it means planning some shorter routes for the receivers then so be it. He is so late to recognize where he wants to go with the ball and then it takes forever to let it go. It might be a detriment to this team long term if they continue to win, because they really need to draft a better QB. Because when the opposition brings any type of pressure, regardless of the O-lines effectiveness or ineffectiveness, he crumbles more times than not.

Problem for the Giants is that they didn't pick up Jones' 5th year option so they have no one for next season and Saquon will be a UFA as well. They're going to have to either overpay to retain them both, overpay for a UFA or rely on a mid 1st round QB unless they trade up. I think the Jets will ave to make a decision on Zach this year if they wind up with another top pick. Personally I'd rather see the Jets get whatever value they can for Wilson, overpay for a free agent like Lamar and trade out of a QB spot which they'll inevitable fall into unless Wilson is able to play QB and the Jets can win more than 4-5 games.

I don't understand why the Jets have so little cap space with the roster they have while the Bills give Josh Allen a huge extension and can still sign Von Miller etc.

I really think the Daboll choice to go for 2 was a no brainer.

You are a new coach, first game with a new team who hasnt had a decent start in over decade. You go for it to show the trust in your team and reward the effort they put in during the summer. You show the team, fanbase and management you want to change the culture by being aggressive. Hell, you had a shitty first half and I dont think anyone wouldve expected a chance to tie it let alone win it the way it was going.

If you lose, well, you set the mentality that its the players game and they'll appreciate that. They want the chance to be the difference makers out there. The kicker may have well missed the EP, again.
