I have seen a lot of people defend Dabes but it is not just Wink or even Winks assistants. Multiple writers are saying Kafka wants out as well. Plus if Schoen listened in on the headsets for 4 games without telling Dabes he must have known there was a problem. Dabes seems like a guy that is always pointing the finger at somebody and has a lot of anger inside imo. Some good coaches yell. Some good coaches do not yell much. That is not the issue. The issue is when a coach goes too far degrading guys in order to push all blame away from himself. Dabes blaming Wink for the Jets loss was nuts. The only reason the Giants were in that game was their defense.

When your D is getting torched because your DC decided to get blitz-happy and it backfired, that fundamentally changes what you need to do on the offensive side of the ball. You're preparing your offense for a conservative game plan, and now you need to open it up with backup QBs and a bunch of practice squad OLs. It can absolutely make a huge difference.

Also, Wink took a shit on Schoen, as well. He elevated practice squad guys without even talking to Schoen first. Wink is a dude who thinks he's hot shit and throws his weight around. That works when you have the results to back it up. The Giants D was 26th in points against, 27th in total yards, 19th in passing yards, 29th in rush yards, 28th in sacks, and 3rd in INTs. Last year was a little better, but we were still a bottom-third D unit.

Often things have 2 sides but its quite possible almost everyone but Dabes is gone next season. If the GM is secretly listening in on the head sets there is a problem. Dabes has a way of pointing fingers at others and you know what they say when you point your finger at others. Dabes blaming Wink for the Jets loss was a jokje. It was Dabes that made multiple dumb calls while Winks defense played outstanding. Dabes was making really strange decisions starting with the first game of the season. If Kafka is as unhappy as multiple reporters say he is than it is not a Wink only situation. Wink walking away from $3 million just to quit says a lot. Kafka does not have that kind of money so I suspect he will need to find a new job before he quits. Dabes has had personality issues in other places as well. I suspect that may be a reason why it took him so long to get a HC job. I just don't think this issue can be everyone's problem but Dabes. Paul Schwartz is a big Giants defender. Even he said Dabes has to change. I get the feeling Carl Banks has bit his tongue in a couple of tweets as well.
