Boyle was also clearly the leaker, he went from starting QB to cut, looked at as Aaron’s Buddy, and Aaron literally couldn’t muster a nice word about him on Pat today.

Rodgers is such a bore too. It’s not his fault he got injured but we’re suffering through another season of misery, watching all of buddies play horribly and he’s on some dumbass talk show holding court as usual.

Anytime you can let the guy who gave us Boyel, Cobb, Lazard, etc still speak for the franchise as if he’s calling the shots, you got to

Why are the Jets acting so dependent on Rodgers? I keep hearing they can't do this and that because of Rodgers. He's 40 and has what one year? I hate to break it to you it's unlikely he wins you guys a Super Bowl. So why so much pull in the organization?

We're a historically inept franchise and we do stupid things.

I don't like Aaron Rodgers, and make it no secret. That said, even at 40 coming off a major injury, he may still be the best QB the Jets have ever had in my lifetime. Which isn't saying much! Because that list includes:

One season of Ryan Fitzpatrick playing well
11 games of Brett Favre
A few years of game manager Chad Pennington
One season of Vinny Testaverde being good

And then there's plenty of mediocrity like Ken O'Brien and Boomer Esiason. Anything before that, was really before me. Desperate teams do desperate shit. I think the vast majority of Jets fans recognize bending over backwards for Rodgers is pathetic, but they made the deal for him and really have no choice at this point. Painted themselves into a corner.

Im not a Rodgers fan at all but if the media lied about a conversation I had with a teammate Id speak up as well.

Edit: I may have misread something so ignore this post.

If some guy who sucks with women acts thirsty and pathetic around women wouldn't that still be a bad thing even if desperate? I know these two things aren't perfectly correlated but acting desperate because you're desperate is never a good idea. He has maybe one season on a team that even excluding QB is good not great and there's no guarantee that he'll be anything like the Aaron Rodgers of old. And even the Aaron Rodgers of old has only played in one Super Bowl.

I think you're expecting the Jets to show some logic, when nothing this franchise has ever done is logical.

Like I said at the end, I think most Jets fans recognize how pathetic this all is. Pathetic/wrong/shortsighted/whatever. But we have put ALL our eggs in one basket so there's really no alternative whether it's "right" or not. It is literally the only choice. Given the circumstances they just have to do what they can to appease him and hope 2024 is some kind of voodoo magic shit.

That’s not what he said though. He said someone in the org said that to the media and should have put their name on it.

the Jets are a dumpster fire but I really don’t need to listen to this guy lecture on how this org should work, any time he takes a break from his bullshit miracle recovery stories, before he wins a single game.

I thought I read that he said more than that on Twitter but I may have gotten it wrong.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the only jet to ever throw 30+ TDs in a season.

Having been a fan since they were The Titans playing in the Polo Grounds, I can attest that there was as much (if not more) mediocrity before O'Brien -- Richard Todd and Matt Robinson were nothing to write home about.

Because some lunatic is under the mistaken impression that this team is one player away from glory.

The crazy thing is the Jets with Ken Obrien used to beat Dan Marino. The Jets always had some really good WR in those days. If Kenny could only play Miami he would have had a solid career. Actually Ken was pretty good against Buffalo and NE as well. It was outside the division that he had more problems.

At the risk of sounding horrible am I crazy if I think the McDermott thing is blown out of proportion? Sounds like an awkward thing he didn't think through and not like some horrible malicious thing.

It was dumb, but all these coaches are nuts when it comes to bringing a team together, leadership all that crap.

Feels like a hatchet job for when he gets fired at the end of the season. Usually you don’t get these in depth stories until a guy is fired though, like the Panthers story that dropped this week.
