If the Eagles, Cowboys, or Niners don't win the Super Bowl I'll eat my hat.
Ravens and Lions are going to have a big say in what happens, but this is a big NFC year and those three teams need to be in the NFC Championship game. Of course only 2 can go (still banking on a SF/PHI re-match). If the Lions win a singular playoff game that city might explode, so they may have expectation to go far, but if they make the divisional round and lose to one of these three teams, you can't be too upset beyond the moment.

KC has 1 receiving option, Burrow is out, Cleveland has no QB, Miami has been a paper tiger, Pittsburgh has a worse offense than the Jets, Chargers can't get out of their own way. Jacksonville and Buffalo are wildcards in the AFC race because they have their QB, just haven't figured out how to make it work consistently. On top of that, the Texans are still rising and I could see some scenarios where they make a run too.

The Jets win against the Rams gets too much play leading up to the Lawrence draft. The Jags had the tiebreaker with both teams at 1 win. Even if they blew the Rams game, the Jets beat the Browns for win 2 because every receiver on the Browns had Covid.

Baker threw it 53 times in the game, and still didn't get to 300 yards.

Joe thinks too much like Eric DeCosta. The Ravens have Lamar and it took them five years to get Lamar some good WR's. Howie Roseman moves up to select Smith and then trades for Brown the following year. Joe worked for the Eagles too. Go get another WR in the draft. JSN. Addison. Flowers. The Jets added Lazard and Cobb who both look cooked. The Jets took a defensive lineman who can't get on the field. McDonald could still become a good player but the Jets needed to surround Rodgers/Zach with as many quality playmakers as possible. The OL stinks. People talk about Dobbs. He wasn't have much an impact on this team. Minnesota has Hockenson and Addison with Jefferson out. The Jets have the three headed monster at TE.

I know Jets fans are down on Zach but to go from starting all season to inactive is also a statement on coaching. They could not see Zach had issues previously and he went from #1 to #3 in a week?

IDK, the coaching no doubt sucks but you make him inactive and then there's no potential that he has to go in when Boyle gets killed on the second series. Or much less potential, anyway. Boyle is also horrible so if he goes in and is like 2-11 for 18 yards at halftime there's also no worries about going to the backup when that's Semien instead of Wilson.

Its just strange optics. A week ago he was good enough to start but today he is not good enough to dress? I'm not bashing the decision. Just reminds me of a Bill Parcells line. If you say you have 3 QBs that means you really have none.

Is it not blatantly obvious that Saleh had a mandate from the FO to try and salvage such a high draft pick?

I get what you're saying but I think the Jets are beyond the point where optics really matter. The national media knows they suck, the local media knows they suck, the fans of the team know they suck. Everyone is basically just trying to keep their jobs as best they can. All of the optics surrounding the team are bad right now.

They're cutting guys, the "marquee" free agent signing is getting benched, and most people have already moved on to a discussion about whether it would make sense for Rodgers to come back this year with the Jets eliminated (when they're not even eliminated, but we all know they're lucky to have 2 wins left in them).

You never know but I think that road was unlikely when they basically ran over Zack like a pothole to trade for Rodgers. I think Saleh hoped Zach was good enough and better than the rest. He might be. I just think its funny going straight from 1 to 3 instead of letting Zach be the back up.

Jets defense is still good enough to win games but that may not be the teams main objective anymore.
