New Yorkers can’t resist getting in one last dig
As I Giants fan kinda hard to believe how much I've found myself rooting for Odell and hoping he got to the Superbowl.
Having lived in SoCal for a long time, and gone to school in the bay (but never cheered for LA teams), I've found 49ers fans to be pretty much hands down the most obnoxious west coast sports fans around.
This could get ugly. BB has his final revenge against the Giants.
Pretty dark ain't pitch black dawg.
They won a SB and made the playoffs one other time last decade. From 1965-1980 the Giants were an afterthought.
That Flores shit is crazy if true. Makes the Miami firing more understandable.
Also Belichick is a real er but I don't think he would do that on purpose. He's just apparently a hilariously tech-inept boomer.
good luck Giants getting any free agents
I totally disagree. I don't know all the details of the lawsuit, only what's been reported, but the process for interviewing for a job in the NFL is a sham. I think the Rooney Rule is a f***ing joke and the fact that the NFL touts it as some sort of landmark policy in sports equality is farcical. The league has major issues with its hiring practices and I can't see this doing anything but helping. It certainly can't make it any worse than it already is.Flores appears to be a serious asshole. The damage this guy is doing to those fighting for equality with a lawsuit like this is pretty bad. I really think this is just so selfish and just so unfounded.

And then if the Dolphins stuff is true, that's something that's a major, major problem for the league.
He is suing the league. And three separate teams. Had Belichick not f***ed up he probably wouldn't be suing the Giants. But, here we are. If the Giants are this beacon of diversity hiring that you suggest, I'm sure they'll be fine.Great! So sue the league. Don't sue a team that has had a history of black employees (currently have a black ST coach and, as said, the likely OC appears to be Pep Hamilton right now) who interviewed three separate black candidates for a position. Including the Giants in this suit is a f***ing disgrace.
It also would help Flores if he didn't come with the baggage of being labeled difficult to work with.
Adding the Giants to his suit makes me think this is all about the money and not at all about anything else.

The fact that you can look at the whole situation, not just the Flores situation specifically but the circumstances that created it, and think that the disgraceful thing here is that the Giants are getting sued...that's pretty f***ing weak, man.
"Difficult to work with" is also about the most loaded criticism one can level against BIPOC people. What coach isn't difficult to work with? Come on.
Probably should find the guys leaking shit to Bill B. Although you have to keep him in the loop, he did deliver the great Joe Judge.
I'm not going to argue this all night with you, Jon. As I said, if your team is as progressive in their hiring practices as you think they are, then this will all work out for them. And as you're the expert here, it seems quite clear this whole thing is without merit, and I'm sure it will be summarily dismissed, and the Giants and the NFL will be vindicated. Please cite all of the evidence that the Giants did anything wrong, here. The only shred of evidence is a BB text message that may or may not have just been misinterpreted and based off of media reports. The reports were there for a long time that Daboll was the favorite. Then we had reports that Flores did well in his interview (one that he claims he was FORCED to attend, mind you - another laughable claim) and that the Giants really did seem to like him.
In fact, it seems like Mara actually preferred Flores but Schoen seemed to prefer Daboll (shocker - he's familiar with Daboll and helped build a team with him).
I mean, the entire suit is so flimsy that it's not even funny. The only team he seems to have a real case against is the Dolphins. That's about it. And even that is just filled with conjecture. Usually when a suit is filed, the allegations have some sort of set of facts. Not just conjecture.
Watch, Flores will get the saints job and the suit will quietly disappear. Also, didn't Flores burn through something like three offensive coordinators in Miami? Why would we hire a defensive-minded HC when our team clearly needs a change of direction to focus on the offense. Not someone who hasn't been able to put together a competent offensive staff.
I wanted no part of Flores and I was concerned that he was going to be hired after the reports came out that Mara was a huge fan of his.
Yeah, that would be very NFL to collude to make the suit go away! Get everyone to pressure Gail Benson into hiring Flores in exchange for dropping the suit, so we can continue pretending all is well in the NFL.Watch, Flores will get the saints job and the suit will quietly disappear.

Ironically, I think that the Rooney Rule actually served a purpose, here. The Giants new GM really wanted Daboll. Mara apparently was very interested in both Frazier and Flores. Rather than just allow the Giants to name Daboll, the Giants' hands were tied by the rule and had to interview a minority candidate. This actually gave Flores a second chance to shine and convince Schoen that he was a better fit than Daboll.
He clearly didn't do enough to get the job. May have something to do with his three or four different OCs saga or something, too.
The Rooney Rules seems to have the opposite effect in many if not most cases. Obligatory interviews when the team has its eye on a primary choice does nothing but waste the time of the minority candidate & the team. It simply gives false hope when there is no chance the minority candidate is being seriously considered.
I understand the spirit of the rule when it was introduced, but 25+ years on, I don't see the point of continuing with it when there are a plenty of minorities in prominent roles in NFL front offices & coaching staffs.
Right - I think the rule is pretty bad. But it actually seems like it gave minority candidates a chance on this one that they may not have had if the GM had the first and only say in the matter. Yet here we have Flores whining about that and claiming he was forced to sit through a meal.
