I don't see him as a SB QB and I don't think the Schoen/Daboll legacy will be sealed with him. At worst he's a transitional one year QB and at best, he's here the next 3-5 years while the Giants build their team. Same with Barkley.

If Jones is here to start 2023 as anything other than a placeholder, this team will still be drafting top 10 in 2025. Personally, I would cut bait with him at the end of 2022 regardless. It's best for both parties...he can go find a fresh start with a team he doesn't have to be the "guy", while the giants can hopefully draft their next franchise QB & bring in a savvy vet he can learn under for a season.

It's truly pathetic that this team has basically zero impact players on either side of the ball after all these high picks over the past 5-7 years. Hopefully Thomas pans out, but we still need help at almost every position & there's no cap space to do it with.

I’m willing to give DJ a chance. I think Mara said it best the other day. They have done everything possible to try and screw him up. It’s next to impossible to predict what DJ is capable of based on the garbage he has had around him, in particular the OL. We know he has just about all of the physical tools.

Who should they have hired then?

He's probably going to bring in Wink Martindale for defense who was last with Baltimore. And yes the Ravens were not a good team this season but historically Wink is solid.

I'm not personally a fan of bringing in offensive guys as HCs but Daboll has experience on the defensive side of the ball and like Coughlin, he's done all kinds of stuff in offense.

People who think the Giants make a playoff run next year are delusional. If they get to 6-7 wins that's a start.

What is a successful season? Progress, stability, and most importantly, getting the injury totals down.

All I’m saying is it’s a lot of “buddies” being hitched together. It will be disastrous if it doesn’t work. Full house clearing because they are all joined at the hip, apparently.

Dabolls history doesn’t impress me. Go look at his previous jobs. I’m skeptical he had too much to do with Allen.

Who would you have hired? Just curious. Michael Kay was even critiquing them that they didn't call up the Saints about Payton.

I'm not trying to be nasty or contrarian. He was not my pick (I go with Flores or Martindale) however let's see what Schoen got.

A lot of this falls on Schoen to fix the drafting AND strength/conditioning.

Gettelman did Judge no favors by crappy drafting and bad cap management.

I would have preferred a guy with previous HC experience, so either Quinn or Flores.

I’m not saying Schoen/Daboll won’t work, and always willing to give things a chance. I can just see it going off the rails pretty quick, which would require another gutting because these guys will all be intrinsically tied together. Basically, do you see Schoen firing Daboll if a HC change is needed? Wouldn

Buddies might be a good thing. It sounds like a positive working environment. Get away from all the turmoil under Gettleman.

I don’t see it with Jones. He’s a turnover machine. In this NFL if you haven’t flashed after 3 years then you move on. If there’s no one you love in this upcoming draft then sure, give him another shot. I feel like NYG fans have become QB apologists. It was the same at the back end of Eli’s career. You hate to stick with Jones for 5-7 years and every year you get; “It’s the OL” or “Doesn’t have the weapons” or “They have no running game.” I’d also like to see a Giants QB with some swagger. I’d like to see a QB go into Dallas or Philly with an attitude.

Love the hires by the Giants org so far. Love them.

Tom Brady retiring is weird

I am still sort of shocked that he's retiring. I mean, we witnessed the GOAT QB and I am just not sure who will emerge, now, after he's gone. Really fascinating time to be a football fan.

Im a Jet fan and I still feel bad. It’s the end of an era. The league is in great shape though. It transitioned from Peyton, Brees, Brady, and Rodgers. Now they have Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, and Herbert who will rock the league for the next 15 years.

... and of course Zach Wilson... I pray.

Another odd thing about Brady retiring is he could have kept playing.

Gretzky was pretty near done when he was done. Brady holds all the records but he threw for over 5k yards this season so the question will always be asked "If he wanted to, how long could he have gone?"

Guy could have maybe hit 100,000 yards, 750 TDs, who knows

Turnover narrative is a bit overstated these days based on his rookie year where he fumbled constantly. The difference is, he improved that aspect of his game dramatically but the OL did not improve at all. This is the worst OL in football and I don't even think it's close. Hard to see anyone being successful back there, and that extends to the running game too. The proof is in the pudding.

All I will say about Brady is that I think his wife has a lot to do with him retiring. My baseless speculation is that he received an ultimatum of some sorts.
