if they squibbed it to the 10 or 20, it would have halved the time available to KC.

Not so sure about that. I'm seeing it everywhere but it seems a little bit like Monday morning quarterbacking. The Bills let up a massive punt return to Hill a little bit earlier in the game. That's what McDermott was probably afraid of...and who can blame him thinking 13 seconds should be good to hold them off the scoreboard so maybe don't risk a big return?

Yeah not forcing a return was inexplicable. Every kicker in the league now (except probably whoever the Jets have rostered) can alter the trajectory of their kicks to hit one with hang time than lands around the ten. I was really surprised by that.
cant they call a fair catch or is that just college?

By the way, the Giants interviewed the Bills DC Leslie Frazier for head coach. I'm thinking that's gotta be a pass after seeing that whole debacle.

The OT thing is what it is. When both offenses are playing like that, the last team with the ball is probably going to win. I mean we give it back to Buffalo so they can score a touchdown, and then what? Each team got to score their TD, so now we can do sudden death? I think you either:

1) Play a full quarter--maybe 10 minutes.

2) Do the college thing with alternating possessions

Anything else, people will always find some reason to complain that it's not fair. I have a lot of Bills fans as friends on Facebook and they're all complaining. Had it gone the other way, none of them would be saying, oh, no, we need to give Mahomes a chance now! At the end of the day, they absolutely blew it at the end with poor choices and execution, and then couldn't make a play in OT.

I don’t mind it. It is what it is.

Not when you go up against Mahomes, no way. Every second counts with that guy

I don't have a horse in this race, so no salt. The OT rule is bullshit in a league where offense is so heavily favored by rules now. Period.

There's such a discrepancy between the good teams and the bad teams in the NFL. It seems like the Chiefs and Bills are just light years away from the Jets and Giants. The Giants need to play 10 games score as much as either of these teams. BTW, Shurmur wanted Josh Allen, Dave Gettleman the worst executive in sports history overruled him because he wanted Barkley and convinced Mara they could win with Eli and Barkley until Eli retires.

Eh, we'd be saying the same thing about KC if Buffalo won the coin toss and got the touchdown instead.

In the playoffs and especially when it's a game like this, that rule is indeed BS.

I don't know what alternatives are better, is my only thing. The college rules are fun but kind of gimmicky. Playing a full quarter by default, I would think the NFLPA would push back on as playing 60 minutes of football is already murder on half of the guys.

What would you propose as an alternative?

Buffalo should have gotten a chance to match the touchdown. If not, then KC wins.

How about mimicking NHL shootout format? You win the coin toss, you go first. But the other team gets a drive, either to tie or win.

Yeah, and to be clear, I'm not picking on Buffalo or on Bills fans. I'd say the same if it was any other team.
Like you said, if it benefited us bills fans wouldn’t be bitching.

Bills fans have better things to bitch about. I’m absolutely devastated but I’m also proud we went out swinging against a damn good team. It really was a great game that was decided by an eyelash.

Somehow what Brady and Stafford did got eclipsed. That's crazy.

If you want to change it — make it a 10 minute OT. If it’s still tied then you keep going. But Bills didn’t lose this game because of OT rules. They lost because they got out coached. Some really questionable calls and decisions from Daboll and Frazier.

The Bills would have won the game all they had to do was not boot the ball out the endzone with 13 left

And not go away from the defense they literally played all game the last 13 seconds

I assume you're not a Giants fan. Judge made a concerted effort to kick a lot of kicks in play to stop the returner from hitting the 25.
I was a Jets fan many moons ago before I gave up on football in general. I only began watching some games again recently.

Eh, I doubt one game is going to really be a factor in that. This is Mahomes and his weapons you are talking about also.

I hope you're wrong. I don't care if it's Jesus Christ at QB. If you can't figure out the right scheme to prevent an offense from going 40+ yards in 2 plays with 13 seconds left in the game, I've got no use for you.
