Flying elbow to the head, injure the rookie, crosscheck to the neck...nothing?

Has this core learned nothing, or do they just not really give a shit about each other?

Tampa would have started at least a line brawl or two after those greasy plays, instead our stars wilt and can't even get back at them on the scoresheet.

Gutless game.

Pretty much. I think those of us who know whats going on know the writing is on the wall for this core. It's pretty apparent really.

We could still win the series though!

Nah, we're toast. The most optimistic I've seen out there is moneypuck giving us 23% chance to win the round, and moneypuck's system loves us.

Our stars would get suspended and Tampa stars can't. Maybe you have learned nothing.

The last time the Leafs decided to respond against a dirty hit on a young player.

This was a 6-game suspension on a player with ~20 years of experience and who’s never been disciplined prior.

There’s just a different set of rules for this team. Not sure what they are supposed to do.

Option A: Play their game, get their players taken out and intentionally injured, and there’s no discipline or penalties called.

Option B: Retaliate and go after guys, get penalized and suspended.

Can’t win. But I’m all for ZAR or Lafferty going on a retribution mission, personally. That way, even if they do face discipline, at least we’re not missing anyone important.

Don’t worry about it. Nothing you can do. It’s done it’s playoff hockey. Move on to game 3. The Leafs will be hungry. They’ll get their redemption

100%. Anyone who thinks the officiating or league office is completely impartial is living in a fantasy world. American League = American champs. There’s 30 years of proof.

AM & MM need their own Dave Semenko.
They also need a coach and GM who get it.
Kerfoot on 4th line? Of all the things he is not, he is not a 4th liner.
Semenko would be suspended in a heart beat.

I think we all know this core would likely never win a cup
The covid play in and the covid cups were pretty much open to anyone to win and they shit the bed
This year losing 4 home games is pretty much saying leadership is lacking
It's not to Ryan O'Reilly to step up and give the speech but he maybe had to
Sad

Lose the first two games ... usual odds are 18%.

Overall I think our odds of winning are worse than that.

We got this far with the opposing goalie playing QUITE poorly.
Our guy was below his average significantly.
Now: Their goalie is playing well and ours is playing as expected.

I think we'd need Bobrovsky to implode ... and I think the chances of that are 5-10%.

Samsonov isn't playing "as expected", he's playing lower, there's even a thread titled "when I'd the regular season Sammy going to show" or something like that. Anyway the Leafs have to be better that's obvious.

I'm tired of the Leaf bandwagoners complaining every time something happens to a Leaf player, and it seems the players simply do the same and take no action. Keefe cries like a baby on every call, Dubas stomping like a little boy, and Leaf fans calling out the refs when we have had the PP advantage by a mile in the first 2 rounds. Focus on being better, focus on staying composed and standing up for your teammates, Keefe is simply bringing negative energy as is Dubas.

Not really sure what you expect in a one-goal game that's crucially important to win. I doubt anybody even really saw it in the moment, and we gave plenty of physicality back and dominated the majority of the game. If we had done something bigger than we did, we would have just thrown the game, and been hit with suspensions that are 5X worse than any comparable, throwing the series. Welcome to the NHL, where only one team gets to do reckless and dangerous things with no consequence, and injure people. Crooked league.

Dress Simmonds have him take runs at Bennett/Takchuk's head and see what the response is from the league and these so called "neutral fans"

Even some of our loser fans said “that’s playoff hockey, gotta play through it and respond” re. the hits on Knies will be going “oh man, that was a bad hit and deserves a suspension” when one of our players actually does something about it.

Love being gaslit by our own fanbase with this crap. The rest of the league and sports media isn’t enough.

that was a very dirty play but you have to take a number and if an opportunity arises let him know there will be consequences. The league is very anti Toronto anyone who doesn't see it is delusional, and lastly the make up of the team is flawed our star players are too soft and take up too much cap space to round out a good hard to play team against

I agree with you and can accept a cross check to the neck or whatever else as normal hockey stuff happening but the Knies head slam is way beyond anything hockey related. Even in MMA you are not allowed to bash a guy in the back of the head.

Someone needed to fill in Bennett. Right away. Cause a major disruption. Knies needed to lay there and milk it like Boston and Tampa.

But we have honour.pshhhh. No one injured Bennet or tried to run into bobrovsky, And Knies just gets up, cause no one coached these guys to read the room and milk it.

Tampa are the champs for a reason. Cooper is a general. Keefe is a greenhorn virgin still.

We are still so amateur in how much we need to WANT to win. Dubas and Keefe and Shanny too tbh, all jokes. We need real hockey people.

I think calling it a head slam is a stretch, it was very similar to what Lafferty did to Gudas. Knies in a battle with Bennett, Knies was the aggressor with the initial attempt and missed the check, it was an unfortunate entanglement with a bigger player. Knies head did not slam to the ice, he may have had contact with the boards on the initial body check attempt. We still don't know what was bothering Knies, haven't see any report on his injury.

Your point is.
He was not valuable as a regular, unlike Kadri or maybe Bunting. He could intimidate from the press box.
