I think calling it a head slam is a stretch, it was very similar to what Lafferty did to Gudas. Knies in a battle with Bennett, Knies was the aggressor with the initial attempt and missed the check, it was an unfortunate entanglement with a bigger player. Knies head did not slam to the ice, he may have had contact with the boards on the initial body check attempt. We still don't know what was bothering Knies, haven't see any report on his injury.

Not the same at all. A toss vs a slam, if Lafferty rode Gudas down with all his body weight hinging on his neck to ensure head contact, then yea, maybe it would be the same.

Someone needed to fill in Bennett. Right away. Cause a major disruption. Knies needed to lay there and milk it like Boston and Tampa.

But we have honour.pshhhh. No one injured Bennet or tried to run into bobrovsky, And Knies just gets up, cause no one coached these guys to read the room and milk it.

Tampa are the champs for a reason. Cooper is a general. Keefe is a greenhorn virgin still.

We are still so amateur in how much we need to WANT to win. Dubas and Keefe and Shanny too tbh, all jokes. We need real hockey people.
This is true .. Knies is an ncaa kid and bottom line he does not really get it yet .. but he should have pulled a DeBrusk and stayed down on ice for 5 minutes .. it would have changed da calls on ice and MAYBE in league office but I am not sure about league office

This was 2 games

I will say the DoPS are super consistent at being terrible at their jobs, so them botching calls again isn't very surprising.

Never liked Director Parros decisions, especially when it came to Leafs rulings (yes I’m biased).

However, does he have a bias? Is he still pissed about the freak incident (Leafs Orr) that pretty much ended his career?

Looking at some quotes below I’m not certain he’s the best choice for rendering league discipline. In my uneducated opinion, it should be a third party with no previous affiliation to any team. Especially the Florida Panthers.

Parros quote:

“You're trying educate the players, and the thing that best suits me for the job is that I've played the game for a long time and played as physical as anybody else, perhaps more so, and never once got fined or suspended.

"I feel that if anybody out there knows how to walk the line, it's me."

October 26, 2014.

“It’s definitely something that will come into play later on down the line, I think,” Parros said of his head injuries. “But right now my head has held up pretty well, all things considered. I’ve been bashing it against skin and metal and ice and glass and boards and everything for a long time. I’m doing OK now, we’ll see. Ask me again in 10 years or so.”

So it’s coming up on the ten years and I think you’re biased, inconsistent, and change is required.

Yeah, Matthews should break his hand on Tkachuk's face, that'll show them.

We all know the smart move is for one of the replaceable bottom 6 forwards to retaliate without taking a major at a critical junction, but that's not as easy as it sounds.

t
he fact that this leagues reffing is wonky is beyond a doubt.

It's really not that hard to understand...stand back and look at all the Leaf hate on the main board and on the other teams' forums...you even have NHL players like Schiefele coming out and express how much he hates the Leafs...I'm sure there are plenty of officials and high level executives who hate the Leafs, and they are in positions to affect outcomes.

Bennett and Tkachuk have both earned a Trouba on Meier type step up open ice hit. Clean. Hard. Devastating.
For that, we'll have to leave it for the team they face in the next round.

Bennett, Gudas, and Tkachuk ,hit to INJURE !!! Our Leafs don't have a mean bone in any one of our players. Sure, they'll throw the odd hit, but they hit like they're hitting one of their sisters.

I really think Refs have one of the toughest jobs on the planet.

Everything happening so fast, live, and every mistake you make is caught by ten different camera angles and ten thousand people screaming for your head.

I think the refereeing has been fine.

The Knies hit was nothing and if no injury happened nobody would have even noticed it.

The cross check to Bunting was pretty nasty, I think it’s on the edge of a fine versus a 1-game suspension and it didn’t break the Leafs way unfortunately.

Are the refs impartial? No they’re human. But I don’t think there’s any sort of vendetta against the Leafs, though I think a guy like Bunting is going to get less empathy than others might in his spot.

First two rounds have been good hockey so far, it’s garbage we’re down 2-0 because of hot goaltending on their end and somewhere a tick below average goaltending on ours combined with not much puck luck and a brutally unlucky start to that second period, but them’s the breaks.

Winning playoff series takes a few things breaking your way and right now they’re breaking Florida’s way. Hopefully that changes, but if the Leafs lose this series at this point none of it will have anything to do with the reffing or DOPS in my books.

Lol what?
Lafferty wraps his stick in front of Gudas and bear hugs him into the boards as they engage the puck, keeping Gudas in a safe position and taking part of the impact. It's literally one of the safest ways you can hit somebody in that situation. And then Lafferty pushes him aside onto his butt as he skates away.
Bennet sucker punches Knies in the head as they come together, cross checks his head into the boards, and then chokeslams Knies down with him by the head, while the puck is nowhere close.
These are not remotely similar plays.

I really hope they ignore all of this and just go play their game and take 2 games in Florida. Getting sucked into revenge is the worst move they could make. It sucks but there will always be a double standard over how Leafs players are disciplined vs. other teams' players. It comes with the job description as a Leaf. Suck it up and win.

It's dumb but they basically have to ignore it.

The league is begging Toronto to go for some revenge so they can hand out some more suspensions to us.

Anyone who can't see the league's double standard by now probably has a single digit IQ.

The league has a different set of rules for the leafs, sure we can unleash the Wayne Train on Bennett but we would get a 5 min major and suspension instantly.

Best to stay focused on the task at hand.

Who cares, just deliver the same hits to Bennett and tell their fans and the rest of the guys on the mains to stfu and deal with "playoff hockey"
