Not true at all. Not even wasting time arguing here. Eating feces is a more valuable activity than this. See how it goes next year. If it doesn't work, it's not like it will be impossible to find another backup anyway.

I mean, it is true though. You can argue as to whether he's been THEE WORST, but he has certainly be ONE OF THE WORST.

The point is this team is supposed to take a step forward and contend next year. Backup goalies are going to be very important with a condensed schedule due to the Olympics and wanting to get done by the pre COVID end of season date. Jones is not a guy you trust anymore. There were better options for around the same cost. Now we got 8 Million to sign Sanheim and Hart. Chuck screwed the pooch today big time.

I will never stop finding amusement in the irony of being called armchair GM (this is like the 5th time now) by a guy who started a "It is time to trade Claude Giroux" thread already in 2014.

Could hextall trade Claude Giroux?

Lo and behold armchair GMs.
Hextall needs to create cap space and improve the team could he trade G to do both. G is getting a big raise next year is he really worth 8 million a season?

Last 3 years, 29 goalies have played 100 games

Jones is 27th in GAA...better than only Quick and Holtby
Jones in tied for dead last SV% with Quick. Oh...and Hart is 5th worst

Goaltending issue has been solved!

No wonder they like the off-season then. It’s one more step towards getting Giroux out of here.

Doesn't like the move....but has to give a silver lining.

35 year old Dubynk had an .890 save % on the Wild the season before. "Pre-trade to Colorado"? He had an .886 save % in his 5 games with the best team in the league. Dell is a career backup who had a couple good years, is aging, and was bad in Jersey in his 7 games (.857 save%) after a waiver claim. Talk about misrepresentative context.

Based on Fletcher's comments about the Flyers being "poor defensively" to singularly blame for hideous netminding, I'm beginning to think he doesn't believe goaltenders are responsible for any stats.

Yeah, this move has disaster writtin all over it. Have to hope Hart can bounce back because I don't have much hope in Jones becoming an NHL goaltender all of a sudden.
About the best I can say is that I'd rather have Jones than Elliott, and that at least it's a cheap one-year deal.

But that ain't saying much.

last year 34 games 15 wins
year before 40 games 17 wins

We chased Elliott after being
26 games 15 wins
27 games 16 wins
and a slightly better save percentage one year and a worse one the other...

you got a lot of hope I just can't see being realized.
It seems like you are suggesting that I am saying he is going to do BETTER than he has in the last few years while you are saying he is going to do WORSE than he has in the last few years. Is that it accurate? If so, I can tell you that I do not think he is going to do better than that. Like I said he will be at or near .500. I also don't think he will do better than other options out there, they'll all be right in that ball park. I'm not sure what amount of hope you believe I have in thinking a guy that hasn't been a good goalie will continue to not be a good goalie. I just don't think this is the "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" type of move that others do.
