Detroit has Ouellet, Saarijärvi and Hronek in the system to help their defense, but Saarijärvi and Hronek still need time to develop. On the other have Ouellet is probably going to make Detroit's roster as the 7th defensemen this year if Detroit doesn't sign any other free agent defensemen this summer.

Philadelphia would offer Detroit Robert Hagg, but Hagg needs more time in the AHL to fully develop, so he is of no use to Detroit this season as they need help on defense this season.

Not the value doesn't heavily favor Detroit, but I imagine it'll be a cold day in hell when Larkin gets traded.

Yeah it is really impossible to see the scenario where he is moved. Though honestly if the OP's offer is what was tabled you have to think even Ilitch and Holland would bite. It wouldn't be. There is really no plausible scenario where I see the Wings moving him. They adore him, think he is the next superstar in Detroit and he is the local kid on top of all that.

Not sure what Detroit's take is on Hagg. Many thought he was a logical pick for Detroit in his draft year, but it didn't sound like after the draft that Hakan Andersson thought much of him. Maybe their pro scouts have shifted on that and there is something to be had there. I wonder if Jurco could catch on with a change of scenery to Philly, he started strong but really hasn't put it back together the last couple of seasons.

Id rather keep Hagg than trade him for Jurco

Another stillborn Flyers trade thread. Giroux and Larkin are going nowhere. Teams aren't good trae partners. Just close it.

Don't be silly. There are MANY players like Wings would trade Larkin for.

Matthews, Eichel, McDavid, Doughty, Karlsson, Benn, Seguin, Tavares, etc etc. Without even batting an eye really.

The only player (or players) that Larkin might be traded for, either individually or as part of a package, would be considered untouchable by their present team(s). None of the above mentioned players would be traded by their present teams and neither is Larkin.

Only if you add one hell of a lot to Larkin for any of those guys. The kid is good, but he is several tiers below everyone you mentioned.

Why not? I think Sanheim and a 1st is more than enough value. I like Larkin but Sanheim looks like McDonagh to me.

I understand a Detroit fan not wanting to do that trade based on what Larkin has done and considering Sanheim is just starting his pro career.

Once Sanheim has a good season, some doubters will be put at ease. Of course, at that point, it will be too late to acquire him.

The pull on Larkin isn't purely on what he did in since he was drafted including his pro performances. It is the local boy pull and the fact they constantly talk about his leadership and competitiveness. The Wings just don't have anything that will realistically include Larkin. All the the players they would trade him for are protected assets to their teams that are likewise not moving.

They are making it pretty clear every time they talk about him that he is the foundation piece moving forward. He and Mrazek are the two guys they are banking on to be the next greats. They could be wrong, but neither guy is really available.

Because Larkin is much more proven than Sanheim. That's like saying Larkin + 1st is more than enough for Giroux and Larkin looks like Toews. There is a significant difference in value between Larkin and Sanheim

Not even close to a proper comparison. Giroux is as proven as it gets. Larkin is unproven and is still mostly potential himself. Imo Sanheim and Larkin end up the same calibre a player, the 1st round pick is due to Larkin being more proven (rookie year) than Sanheim. The difference in value isn't more than a 1st

Value might be appropriate, but don't see how it makes sense for Detroit to it.

Just creating another huge hole to plug another.

Unless one of our young wingers Nyquist/Tatar or Mantha/Svechnikov + 1st + other pick/prospect would be appealing for Sanheim (obviously assuming Ghost or Provorov are untouchable), then there might not be a deal to be had.

Also if MDZ isn't in your long term plans, would be in favor of trying to scoop him at the trade deadline.
