It is a sure thing, actually. We can't afford Trouba.

It's 100% right. Trouba needs a new contract. Provorov is 19 and his potential is certainly higher than Trouba.

I'm a Jets fan and I agree with flyersfan018. Yes, Trouba has accomplished more in the NHL than Provorov RIGHT NOW but I like his future more. Not that I think Trouba doesn't have 1st pairing potential.

There were a few threads about this before. Even if we wanted to move one of the kids for Trouba for handedness 'balance', any deal would have to include Macdonald for salary purposes alone. Jets aren't interested in doing that (rightfully). We don't have any other deals with enough dollar and/or term to offset the salary difference. So the deal ends there. Flyers value the two kids and whatever asset we'd be forced to give up to afford Trouba more than Trouba, that's all.

Could it be simplified a bit, Trouba and a 2nd for Provorov?

I feel like value of Trouba and Provorov is pretty close so throwing in a 2nd...as much hype as Provorov has he hasn't played in the big leagues yet so that seems generous

I'm a Winnipeg fan(that admittedly has watched a lot of Wheat Kings games) and I would understand Philly rejecting that trade.

Provorov is a special, special player. He's not gonna take long to adjust and was an absolute gift at #7 overall.

Nope. Provy is not available.

Provy at 3 years on his ELC vs Trouba at 5+ million is an easy decision for Philly. Then add in that Provy has more upside. You could make that 2nd a 1st and Philly says no.

Teams are not going to trade the Jets younger, cheaper, Dmen with more upside for Trouba....unless they were a true cup contender and had lots of cap space. And that's not Philly.

From the Jets' point of view, I wouldn't mind something built around Trouba and Provorov. While Trouba is more developed and already NHL caliper player, Provorov represents the future. Out of all the defender prospects lately I feel he may just have the highest ceiling. Don't know whether it's more important for the Flyers to get D now rather than later? If I was in the Chev seat I would definitely explore the possibility no matter if Provorov is NHL ready this season or the next.

Generous??? About as generous as a guy sitting next to you with his beer bottle mostly empty and wanting to trade his for your full bottle. Trouba wants to get paid, Provorov is the best defensive prospect in hockey. A second doesn't bridge that gap or make the Flyers better in the future.

In one year Provorov > Trouba and this year will.be damn good. Lowry might not even make the Jets and he wouldn't make the Flyers either. .01% chance Hexy would trade Provy for Trouba. And the more Sanheim plays in preseason, highly unlikely he would trade him either.

He hasn't played yet because we have patient GM just like Chevy It is looking close to impossible for him not to bust the door down this year , just can't see Trouba being the return for Provy.

This year ,
MDZ Ghost
Provy Gudas

The D is starting to turn around quickly now and that is a decent extremely young top 4 that will only get better with both Morin and Sanheim expected to play at some point this year.

I like trouba but I would not trade any of provorov sanheim or Myers for trouba. The three prospects all look incredible. In the game against the islanders, Myers played the best followed by sanheim and then provorov who also played well. If Myers makes the team next year, which he probably deserves to make this year but won't, the flyers right side is set with ghost, gudas and Myers. The left side next is probably going to be mdz, sanheim, and provorov. The flyers defensive prospect pool still has Morin, hagg, Friedman etc.

Trouba, Morrissey, Lowry and a 2nd for Sanheim, Provorov and Simmonds.

This is brutal to say the least. As bad as this deal is for Philly let me through this out as see what you think how we feel. Take away Morrissey, Lowey( who both do nothing for me) and add Laine and Connor with Trouba and change your 2nd to your first. This still pains me because Travis and Ivan are going to be very special hockey players. So what are your thoughts about THIS deal my fellow poster?

OK. But if he did, Trouba would have the 2nd pairing RD spot all to himself.

Trouba is already slotted on top pairing. (And a dominate top pair in the time they played together last year.) Even if he prefers the right side why would he want a demotion to the second pair or to play with a weaker D partner?

First, it's dominant, not dominate.

Second, he is asking to play the right side in Winnipeg, so yes he is asking for second pairing minutes since Buff is ahead of him.
