I recall exactly where I was when the Lecavalier acquisition was announced.

Not exactly a moon-landing, JFK assassination, or OJ verdict moment, but I was in Four Courts Irish bar in Wilson Blvd. in Arlington when the news broke & I discussed it with a Montreal fan.

Many a good nights at Four Courts

I've done booze there
I was an O’Sullivan’s regular in those days, but I made the occasional venture to Four Courts.

Donagh, at O’Sully’s, told me Dale Hunter was a customer, & Donagh knew my love of hockey. I regret never running into Dale. Apparently some overzealous fans scared him away.

Yeah, Dale never seemed a spotlight kinda guy. He kinda coached the Caps as a favor lol. If people had been cool about it he'd have kept going.

I've done the shitfacing at O'Sullivan's and Spider Kellys as well. Recently was back there to eat at Smokecraft, if that place existed when you were there

I know Spider’s well, won a Skeeball championship there, but we’re talking a decade ago probably (am I really this old?).

Smokecraft did not exist while I was there. Where is it on the boulevard?

John Davidson: Ok Jarmo, we're in a pretty good place here. We got a consensus high end pick right at the start of the draft and an unexpected faller that I think we'll be very happy with down the line. Now I know we had Stenberg up and he got sniped, but we can move past that like we did with Brindley. Now I know we talked about the Russian, but I don't see what others see and his skating is just dicey dicey dicey. And we got this other guy, he's a riser - smart, good puck protection, defensively sound, developing offense - middle sixer at worst. What do you think?

Jarmo:

JD: Jarmo, it's our pick.

Jarmo: I know that, but there's like a full breakfast bar in the lounge. There's so many options. Did you see you can make your own waffles?

JD: In the draft.

Jarmo: Never draft on an empty stomach. That's like rule #1.

JD: Jarmo, focus. Who do you want?

Jarmo: I'm thinking danish, do you want danish too?

JD: Yeah, yeah, I agree. That's the right choice.

With the 34th pick in the 2023 NHL Entry draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets are pleased to select, from HV71 in the SHL, Oscar Fisker Mølgaard.

Jarmo: Do you want raspberry or one of those luscious cream filled one with the dollop of blueberry?

JD: So wait, you weren't talking about...

Ah, f*** it. Still a good pick.

With the 39th pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Buffalo Sabres are proud to select, from the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, Defensemen LUCA CAGNONI.

A bit of a reach here based on the consensus rankings but he's a player I believe in. I see a lot of Ghost-like qualities in his game.

The Capitals are on the clock.

Not a reach.

The Red Wings have 3 2nd round picks in a row here, which, while it almost certainly means that they will not use all 3 here, it *is* why I picked them.

41st Overall - David Edstrom, C, from Frolunda of the Swedish League

42nd Overall - Caden Price, LHD, from Kelowna of the WHL

43rd overall - Jesse Kiiskinen, LW, Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish League
